Figured its 39 degrees outside its perfect time for some brew and smoke. Just finished first file cabinet smoker and just got the Mav 733 in mail so its finally time to play. Have a few leaks around top two drawers where the smoke signs are around doors. Bottom three drawers lok to be good as far as leaks go. Not sure how many times i should heat this unit up to get all the nasties out tho. Is a coat or two of pit safe paint highly recommended before and meat is ready to cook? Thats my only real concern here. Temps and control will come with more test runs i hope lol. Suggestions? Just realized this pic was before the smoke stained the drawers. O well

Now that's an interesting smoker!! Maybe look into the fiberglass oven gaskets for your leaks? I'm not sure about the innards and the safety of it all - but I'm sure someone will chime in with ideas!

Hadnt thought about that yet. Sounds like it would be easily workable. Most of the ones ive seen are black already so if theyve been painted i couldnt tell. May be the safest route to go just for added measure. Thanks

Most folks will probably tell you to take a weed burner to it inside and out to remove any interior paint or residues, then repaint just the outside with hi-temp paint.

Ok. That would definitely be quicker than this route. I can borrow one from work tomorrow and i have a fresh tank of propane already. That would get the job done no doubt. Thanks again. My brain doesnt work in the 30-40 degree range
