The DJI mini is a really good drone. The fly more kit is under 500.00

Auto launch and land. Return to home feature. 25 minute fly time. Very good video and picture quality. 3-axix gimbal. Very easy to fly.

Anyone here fly drones, looking to get one. Probably spend around $500.

Thanks
as mentioned earlier, take time, to read the regulations on FAA sites. https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers
Having years of underwater video experience I thought buying a drone would be cool and fun.
Dropped about $1500 on a DJI Mavic Pro platinum package to learn the places I can fly in Florida are extremely limited. EG.: no flying in or near National parks (Everglades and Most of the Keys).
All airports have a NFZ (no flyzone) around them. Here in S Florida there's a municipal airport every 10 miles, it seems. Other places I'd love to fly but can't... Great Smoky Mountains, Appalachian Parks and so on. My home is in a direct flight path of a local municipal airport so I can't even practice in my yard. There are ways around it, but it requires applying for an FAA waiver where they can be up your A$$ if you deviate. There are also licenses that allow flights in residential areas for the real estate folks. If you live in "fly-over" country it might not be as restrictive or policed. There's also rules on transporting L-ION batteries in commercial aircraft.
not rying to be a buzz-kill, but I've learned by learning. The basic UAV flight certificate is a sign and pay on the FAA website. If you're adventurous you might pick up a "Walmart" inexpensive toy to see if you like it. Mine, (DJI) locks me out of any NFZ (no fly zone) and I have to request a waiver.
Probably more than you wanted to know but in urban areas it's not just a buy and fly thing.
Good luck and happy flying.

Great information. I keep thinking I want a drone...then I start thinking, why? So I can greet someone coming in the neighborhood and lead them to my house? Everybody has GPS mapping these days already (at least those outside of the stone age), there would be nothing useful for my drone in that respect.

I think "roof inspection", but then I can call a roofing company and they will get up there and look and advise for me after a hail storm or something. There is a mystery building out in the woods behind my house (deep in the woods not close) I would like to see...its just one of those curiosities/mysteries, I saw it blurry on Google Earth. But then I realize "do unto others as you would have them do upon you" and I would be very unhappy (kinds words, it would be worse than that) with someone for hovering over my property even if there was nothing to hide.

So, other than professionally or scenic views you otherwise cant see on the ground...whats the point? And if you cant fly around those scenic sites...

DJI Mini 4 Pro is a very good little drone that is under the 249 gram rule. Which basically lets you do way more then a normal size drone like the Mavic Air S or Mavic 3.
In the USA if you plan on using it for comercial use you will need to take your Part 107 certificate. If not you can fly under Recreational flyer with very few restrictions.
Don't let the small size fool you, its a very powerful and good camera drone for vacations and such. I suggest joining a good drone forum like this one here to learn more about drones.

I have 3. The Mavic 3 Classic, Mini 3 Pro, and a little Potensic Atom 3-axis. All are fun to fly and are solid flyers. Sometimes I'll just take the little Potensic because it's light, takes great 4k video and the kit is lighter than the Mini 3 Pro.
