Still a lot of ships getting topped off before the Soo Locks shut down for the winter on Jan. 15th.
Here is the CSL Whitefish Bay being helped through the bay by Thunder Bay Tug Services Point Valour.
The Sleeping Giant off in the back ground gaurding the bay.

That is callled a "Self Unloader" It has a conveyor belt running the length of the ship in the bottom of the cargo holds.. The conveyor on top of the holds/deck swings out 90` to the ship into a hopper on shore... It's all bullk cargo (aggregate mainly)... but also grains/feeds and such ... They come into our port often..
I work at the port and we handle bulk material as well... But we offload with a crane and a claimshell style grab... 50,000 tons each ship... Takes us 6 days +/-... The self unloaders can unload in 2 days... with more cargo ...

Great aerial shot there KB! One of my bucket list items is to drive up I-35 to Duluth and watch the Great Lakes freighters come and go. They are just awesome!
