A couple days ago I decided to wanted to try to do a CI deep dish pizza. Figured what better way to do it than on the grill in a CI right? Have been testing different things out here recently and everything has turned out great. Threw together some stuff I had at the house and gave it a go.
Started out with a frozen pizza dough ball from the store that had been thawed out. Rolled it out and draped over the CI. It didn't want to stay put so it was fun trying to get everything packed in there while holding the sides up.
Put just a very small amount of sauce in the bottom. Layered up some browned and crumbled hot sausage.
A layer of pepperoni.
Loaded on some shredded whole milk mozzarella.
And then the sauce.
After about 30 minutes at 375ish.
Some fresh grated home smoked parmesan and a little parsley on top.
Couple of slices.
That last picture looks kind of greasy but I can assure you it wasn't at all. All of the flavors melded together nicely. I normally am not a huge fan of deep dish pizza but I will be doing this again. The CI cooked the crust perfectly and I got a nice flavor off of the grill as usual. Easy thing to do to change things up every once in awhile. Anyways thanks for checking it out!
