Once again Christmas is upon us. What's your plans? What are you cooking?

For us, we'll be home the 25th and I'm smoking a boneless whole ribeye. That's different than past years where I've smoked a bone-in one, but still the same. We'll have all the fixins to go with it and most of the gang will be here.

So what are you all doing?

Same here Charles .
meaning the same old same.

Not as many coming this year , and I was told that I did not havce to cook.
Started of at 12 folks in all, now down to just us 4 and 2 more, That will be quite for us.

But was just asked other day how I was doing everything
( so what happened to me not cooking , ha ha )

So will do up a big Christmas ham on the 24th and slice and reglaze to reheat in the BBQ on the 25th as the turkey will be in the oven then.

And I always do up a 12 x 24 pan of our famous ( lol ) potato and bread and summer savory stuffing/dressing and all the reg fixins.

Hi Charles!

My family and I will be heading over to my parents house on Christmas Day. My brother will be there a couple of family friends, who are basically family. My Mom is making homemade lasagna. I am smoking a couple of beef back ribs. And an oven cooked ham. We’ll have plenty of sides too.
Merry Christmas!

You know a guy really loves his potatoes when he adds them to his stuffing! DUH, why didn't I ever think of that?
And we love that summer savory! You should see my wife's face light up when she uses the roasted garlic oil with savory... thanks for that!

Christmas eve we go to her dad's for Christmas and our yearly feast on chicken and dumpling soup.
After that I'm not sure, but really thinking the potatoes recipe that civilsmoker civilsmoker posted in his recent thread needs to happen!

We always do our special meal on Xmas Eve. This year we're going Brazilian with two Wagyu Picanhas sliced with the grain salt & peppered then rubbed down with Refogado. Skewered into half rounds and grilled to med-rare. Salad with palm hearts, the obligatory baked potato and of course a very good Turley Cabernet 🍷😋

Glad you enjoy it.

When I smell a chicken or turkey cooking and there is summer savory in it , it just takes me back to many happy special times .
And of coarse the stuffing/ or dressing . Have to have enough for the Dressing and turkey sandwiches.

And I could go for a big bowl of that Chicken and dumpling soup , cool here today.

Hey Charles,

We have my in-laws (I call them outlaws) with us and my youngest son will be home from Virginia for about 10 days. So 6 of us total maybe 7.

Ham on Christmas Eve probably with scalloped taters. Then Christmas dinner will be prime rib bone in with lobster tails on the grill and some of my “melting potatoes “

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

This year is different. The kids said, "we want Granddaddy's smoked meatloaf". So I bought
5 pounds of ground beef, added my spices, and made 3 loafs. Into the smoker for about
3 hours. Had to wait until they all got to 165. The aroma is intoxicating filling the kitchen now.
We celebrate a few days early so that everybody can travel on the weekend.

Sounds like a great time with the outlaws, enjoy!!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, as well Eric...

A little different this year. Christmas Day will be at the Ex's for breakfast with the kids and grandkids, and we watch them open their presents. Ex got ticked last year because they tore thru everything so fast, she couldn't get any pics. This year she's making the grandkids do a scavenger hunt to find their gifts.

But Christmas Eve will be very different. My best friend passed away about 1-1/2 years ago, and his widow has found someone new. He seems to be a pretty decent guy, and he is the master distiller for a local distillery, and has been putting out some good whiskey recently.
So I'm invited to a Friends & Family gathering at their tasting room, after work on the 24th. Should be fun.

Merry Christmas to all.

This is a "different" Christmas for us. For the first time in 31 years it is just my wife and me.
Son hasn't been with us for 6 years since landing a full time fire fighter job. He often takes holiday shifts to give other FF's time with their families.
Daughter finished up grad school this year and got a real job without the benefits of an extended holiday break.
We finished up the (second round) cookie and treats making today adding a big batch of the infamous Bearcarver Peanut Butter Meltaways. Platters will go to numerous friends in the complex. Another will get dropped off at the County Fire Station up the street on Christmas Day.

We're just planning to make French onion soup and smoking a spatchcock chicken this week. Wife is most looking forward to me making a big batch of her favorite breakfast sausage tomorrow.

We kinda had an early Christmas celebration last weekend at the So Florida gathering. My wife made it a Christmas gathering with her holiday treats

Sorry to be long winded, but we find many ways to share the holiday cheer.

We're empty nesters this year also John. We haven't decided what we're doing, but will probably travel around to different neighborhoods and see the light displays. Then come home and make something simple.

Talked to my daughter yesterday, said they probably won't be up till the weekend after the 1st, as we have Christmas with my dad, brother, and sister's family.

But the day or date isn't important as time together. Last year at this time my daughter had a bun in the oven. This year we'll have our first Christmas with our first granddaughter! So daughter and son in law will spend their 1st Christmas morning with their daughter opening gifts... she'll be 8 months soon! So excited for them! And to show our excitement... we bought Laramie (granddaughter) her first Christmas present last year on after Christmas sale... don't tell her but she's getting her first farm set, complete with all of Old McDonald's animals! :emoji_blush:

John, Fueling Around Fueling Around you thought your post was long lol! We also heard yesterday our daughter and SIL got their house sold... closes in January. They are moving from 3 hours away to within a mile away!!! Timing is important now, as only thing they have to move into now is a basement, with snow in it ( I'll be darned if I'm gonna snowblow their basement out again!) Their new to them house currently is 30 miles away... waiting for house mover to change that. Maybe before the end of the year!

That's the end of my Christmas story!!
