Brand new smoker here who has a new Char-Broil digital smoker. Wondered if anyone has any opinions on their temperature probe or probes in general? My first thought was to buy a wireless temperature probe that had good reviews and was reliable. Just made some smoked salmon and have doubts about it actually getting to 145 degrees or not.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

As many here we tell you, the digital and door therms are inaccurate. I have the analog cable Char Broil and my door therm is twenty degrees off.
Now some people will say that since you know you’re twenty degrees off you can just go by that. Unfortunately I discovered that it might be fifteen off at 300* but twenty off at 275* and maybe twenty five off at 250*. So just too unreliable.

Do a search here and you’ll find tons of good advice about this.
Just about everyone purchases wireless digital units that are very accurate. Thermopros are probably the most popular but I purchased a NEXTAMZ brand during an Amazon lightning deal. Seems to be identical to the Thermopro.

I have a Thermapen that I use for instant reads when cooking but I like the option to have a probe that will show the current temperature without opening my smoker. Is it more common to just use an instant read from time to time or do most folks use probes similar to the Thermapros or Inkbirds?
