Damn! That's a great price! As mentioned, I would be happy with the non sale price. I will have to stop by a grocery store next time I drive through Texas....check out the brisket prices....

Picked up 2 good 14.5 pound briskets today and put them in the freezer. They look like Choice grade briskets to me. They have good thickness and good bend to them. Hell of a deal!

Tomorrow I'll pick up a $1.80/lb Choice brisket from the Tom Thumb 3 blocks away from me :)

Tonight I'll smoke my 15 pound choice thats been in the fridge from the last sale a week or 2 ago and one of these select briskets I got today. I always like smoking 2 because the smoker is going and why not. I can eat on one all week and have the other sliced and vac sealed for future quick meals :)

Thanks for getting back with me. I think I will drive down Monday. Hopefully still have some.

This is a Fred Meyer in Western WA for other members in the area.

Brisket is still pretty high here, but thanks to cutplug, I did snag one of these rib roasts today. Mine is 10+ lbs., and I had a $15 store credit to use, so it came to about $35. I'm happy.

Nice!!!

Finally got this going. I am making this for a friend. My friend John said I hate to ask you this but my wife wanted me to ask if you could do a brisket for us. She never touches any food coming off the river but John convinced her I keep everything clean and she ended up eating the whole vacuum sealed bag I gave John last cook. Our friend is a 79 yo and he has been to the river almost everyday of his whole life. John and his wife take a lot of their own time taking care of him and feeding him. I am glad to be able to do this for them.

For .97 cent this is actually a pretty decent brisket. 8 hours in and just hitting 160. Wrapped up and put into MES40 at 250 to finish than a four hour rest. Will give to them tomorrow.

I spend most my afternoons down on the Red River. This Doyle:

I hadn't really considered how lucky I am never buying meat retail until now.... The last time we bought meat T bones were what most of you are paying for briskets. The joys of having friends who raise cattle and pigs.

Yep. My Great-uncle used to say, "Everyone needs a doctor, a mechanic, and a butcher in the family."

I'm currently waiting for the girlfriends family to butcher a cow that's getting too old for breeding. We're looking at about 50¢ a pound for it. Not prime meat mind you, but it should be perfect for chili meat and sausage.
