would a 1500 watt brinkman electric heating element be enough to get an uds to 220 degrees? i see it has chip box mounted on top but has no thermostat. i can always open a stack on top if too hot. its either that or 2, 1000 watt hot plates. smoking summer sausage only.thanks.

I use one to heat my freezer conversion, and I've had it up to 250 deg. I think it will handle a uds without any problem, provided it's not -20 out and windy. I use a thermo control to run mine, but I'm sure with proper venting and babysitting you could manage temps okay.
