Hi Guys,

This is only my 2nd time to the forum.  I'm not too familiar with the site, so I just decided to post here.  I'm making a steak tonight on my BGE and I'm Green (no pun intended)

I've never grilled a steak before.  I've had my BGE on for 1.5 hours and it's still only at 400.  What am I doing wrong?  Also, I've read lots of differing opinions on the temp to grill a steak.  My steak is a NY strip, 1.5" thick.  My hubby likes medium rare.  Please give me guidelines for temp and cook time.  Thanks!

In my experience, there are two possibilities.

1. You are using bad charcoal. Maybe a bad brand or a good brand that got wet.

2. The egg is clogged and needs to be cleaned. When was the last time it was used?

Thanks for the reply.  I think #2 is right- I need to clean it out better.  I need to find a new top to do that.  The one that come with the BGE just doesn't cut it!
