Barrel gauge - does it matter?

LIke I am asking.... does it make a difference building an UDS out of a 16 vs 20 gauge barrel?

Sure heavier is better but what are we talking? An extra few pieces of charcoal or half a bag of charcoal?

Build it with what you have and cook. I have built with both the heavier and the thinner both cook well.
