So, I'm looking to upgrade to a pellet smoker, but I'm on a (fairly strict) $600 budget. I am here looking for some advice.

I thought that I had decided on the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone, but this weekend I came across the Camp Chef PG24, which seems to have mostly positive reviews.

I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever I decide, but would love to hear any negatives or concerns that any of you have had while actually using the product.

I have the SmokePro DLX (PG24) and like it a lot.

You might want to use the website brickseek.com to check the prices of Wal-Mart in your area. Found a Pit Boss 700FB for a buddy of mine marked down from $499 to $200. Most of the reviews I have read were pretty good for that unit.

I have the camp chef PG24. It's okay, but I don't think I'd recommend it. Had mine for just over a year so far, but now it won't heat up more than like 300 degrees on a good day. Instead of producing smoke constantly, it smokes in cycles. When I do long smokes, I find that those cycles become fewer and farther between—almost to the point where it stops making smoke altogether. It also leaks smoke pretty bad out of the edges. If I had to do it over, I'd buy something else.
