Cool...man I din't realize granite took heat very well... being a dang..I forget the word from my kid rock hound days...a "composite"...
 
Well of course it's for show, but it should work well and be easier for some things than using a cast skillet since it doesn't have sides. I have a cast iron griddle that fits across two stove burners that would do almost the same. Granite would have the advantage of no rusting if you would be storing it outside near the grill.
 
My thoughts too. A couple reasons: no rust & microwaveable (i just love that microwave for cooking

I"ll keep an eye for one of these at Marshall's, Tuesday Mornings (or some other closeout store) in about a year or two.

I didn't think about no rust, I'll give you that. Does it have to be seasoned to make non-stick, I wonder.
 
Polished granite for a counter top works great for rolling pastry with just a bit of flour. I imagine just a bit of oil would do the same for cooking.
If I cooked over fire more often , I'd start talking to counter top installers / fabricators and ask what they do with the sink cuttouts
