For those with an amazn smoker tray AND have done the element flip, where do you place the smoker tray? I use to place it on the two rails on the left side of the smoker but now that is so close to the element that both times I have smoked since flipping it, the heat starts the pellets to smoking that are right next to the element.

I need some ideas to keep it away from the element...

I have the Mes 40 Gen 1. The right side appears cooler with the straight side of the element. I mostly burn one or two rows and if the tray is on the rails next to the chip loader hole and the empty row is closest to the element that may work, if you have the Mes 40. I did the mailbox mod. With the PID I can use a bigger drip pan on the bottom rack since the sensor is up by the food so no place there. And 1.5 open spaces between rungs on the bottom rack left side and 3 on the right is even heat left and right with the disposable alum 11x15 baking sheet. Lots of heat moves toward the door and back over the food with the sheet against back wall. It keeps grease off the non heating part of the element legs going into back wall.
