Well the deer harvest has begun... At least they are giving the meat to Harvesters Food Bank...

No overpopulation in Central Kentucky, the state cut our season in half.

And signs are scarce, I will prob end up with one from one of my Illinois friends and just have a good old time at deer camp next week.

Dang.... I know a herd of 30 or 40 deer can do a lot of damage to a field of crops in one night around here.
Glad to see they are taking control of the situation.

Over 200 deer per square mile...

Lots of folks just don't understand that.

We're getting into a problem with feral hogs around here. Talk about crop damage, sheesh! Season is open year round on them...

I wish we had an animal we could hunt all year round and that tasted good.

Just not feral hogs though. I watched a program called Pig Bomb about the spread of the giant pigs and how they devestate crops and have even attacked people .

Turkeys are starting to be a problem in SE British Columbia a flock can eat a heck of a lot of corn, strawberrys , rasberrys, grapes, tomatos etc in an evening. Plus they damage more than they eat. We have an increase of deer near here , just the right amount.
Also it is not a pleasant thing to have a Turkey come thru the windshield.

It is inside the city limits and hunting is not allowed there, they used Police Sharpshooters to shoot them...

There are plenty of hunters around if they would have let them hunt them...

I seen that show, it was on about a week or two ago. When I lived in Tx, we would go hunt hog in Llano Tx. They were EVERYWHERE. I mean everywhere. Now I hear reports that here in Minnesota and Wis are running into problems with them.

I'm surprised the anti hunters did not make a stink about that. Yeah they should have let hunters come in and take care of them. Hunters probably shoot more often than the police, especially with rifles. Plus taxpayers would not have to flip the bill for the police to do that job. Heck, they could have even charged the hunters a small lic fee that could have gone to the city, and the hunters would have still stepped up to help.

HeHeHe.....That sure is true..........

Ohhhh, the activists had big protests on this one...waving signs at the park edge and yelling about "slaughter" this and that. The authorities did the right thing, and wouldn't say when the hunt was officially going to take place. The park was closed off, and the hunt happened without people knowing about it. It is a big park with lots of woods, a big lake, and a big time deer population. Hunters would have stepped up, but the park is in tight to some houses. I guess they figured that they should tightly control the shots so no one got hurt. It is good to see the local food banks be the beneficiary.

This type of accident in a highly populated area is what they wanted to avoid... This happened on the Missouri side of the Metro...

Des Moines allows you to take a test then you can bow hunt in several different city parks and wooded areas next to the river and about half the area our water works is composed of. Here the Feral hogs are shoot on sight no season, no license just trigger time.

Yeah, I can see using police sharp shooters in a highly populated area. And they did do the right thing, donate the meat to the food banks. Unlike what happened here when the state made the food banks destroy 60 thousand plus pounds of venison because the anti hunting groups said there was a risk of lead poisoning.

Beer b q, did you say 200 deer per square mile????
I have hunted the hill country of Texas with an average of 50 per sq mile before and the deer were everywhere. I can't imagine 200, my god they are breeding like rabbits LOL.
200 deer per sq mile, man, that makes allot of hot sticks
