Yeah I might take a shot at this. Are there other reliable PIDs that would hook up the same way and can be used with these instructions so I can try it out without spending the $150 on the Auber? I have like 3 MES that have some level of dysfunction. If I can get this PID mod to work with a...
They sent me out a total of 3 new controllers before finally just refunding my money. They get an A for effort and customer service, and a D- for quality control. Still trying to decide if I want to get a new smoker and/or which one. Like the Smokin-it smokers but they are fugly and
REALLY...
While I havent done the PID controller, Ive done the mailbox mod and the smoker tray. The tray is pretty much useless for me. I can never keep it lit. Ive baked or nuked the pellets first to dry them out, let the flame burn for 10m first etc. Followed all the instructions, tips/tricks and it...
You should make a Youtube video for those of us noobs who needs to see how things work. Ive pulled off a few jobs I never would have attempted with the help of a Youtube video. You might launch a new career!
This looks interesting. When you say "plug and go", does that mean I plug in the smoker power cord to your conroller, then plug the controller power into the wall? Easy Install is key for guys like me. If its pretty simple, please add me to the list!
TallBM, if only you were closer Id pay you to put this PID contoller in. This is simply beyond my ability and/or desire to mess with electrical stuff that I am going to set and forget about until my temp alarm goes off.
I have a couple of MES that have worked well for the most part but they have died or about to die. Entertaining the idea of getting a new smoker and have some gift cards I can use. I have a budget of of up to $500 although spending less would be ok too. If you were in my shoes and your choices...
If I were mechanically or electrically inclined at all I might try it. Being that Im not, Id rather just get a smoker that works without having to modify it.
So Im on my 3rd electric smoker.. My first was a 30" Bass Pro Shop special, made by masterbuilt. Made alot of good food out of it, but the thing kept blowing the hi/low temp shutoff sensor and taking off the back to replace it (and some of the wiring at times) got to be a pain so it was retired...
Looking into smoking my on beef jerky, looking for some tips.
I have a marinade Ive used in the past for a dehydrator, how long and at what temp do I smoke it?
How do you smoke yours? also interested in your marinade recipes, preferrably without too much sodium. Its not like the jerky is...
Just thumbing thru the manual, it has a youtube link for a video on cleaning the inside. I always left the inside as it is, good seasoning. What do you guys do?
I got a new MES 140s for Christmas, and have done 3 smokes with it. the first 2 smokes took alot longer than it should have and the results were less than hoped. I have had two 30" MES before this one, and they have worked fine. On my Saturday smoke, it was again taking alot longer than it...
I'm looking for an easy Smoked Mac & Cheese recipe to go with my ribs Im going to smoke tomorrow. Sure I can pick one at random from the internet, but was hoping I could find one as good as the Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans recipe I found on these forums. That one is so good, i have to make sure...
