When I did my first butt I got a smaller one to "test the waters" so to speak. It was around 5 to 5.4 lbs I believe. I figured it would be cheaper if I screwed it up lol. Not to mention that I was doing it for only 3 people. But overall it turned out really good. When it comes to smoking I...
You really don't lose your bottom shelf. The right size (can't remember off the top of my head) will slide right into the spot where the small one is now using the rails where the small water trays rack is still giving you the freedom to open only the small door to add water. And I agree with...
CC you will really like that smoker. That's the same one I got as a first smoker a month or so ago. I really like it, temp is pretty easy to control, good cooking area (not great) but big enough for my current needs and fairly easy on fuel aswell. I do urge you if you haven't already. Search...
awesome yes definitely post some pics of that. I would like to seal up my door alittle better not that it bothers me but I think you could hold heat better and use less fuel by having the door seal better. I was thinking of trying the stove gasket on mine.
Thanks for the input Frijole. After the first un I am very happy with the smoker and the product it produces. I did some chicken thighs and ribs. I agree with you I really like the lower door feature on this unit. How did the pork loin do? I am thinking that might be one of my next smokes.
I did my first run/ first ever smoking on my mew Masterbuilt this weekend. I did a rack of ribs with Famous Dave's rub (2-2-1 method) and some chicken thighs brined then injected with creole butter. Smoked over some pecan wood. I have to say I thought the chicken and ribs turned out great for...
Got it Monday and she is put together, going to season it tonight and I'll be smoking Friday afternoon. I like the metal watering can Pzovic. and I agree after looking at the design and reading all the reviews the cast iron skillet will be a must, stopping on the way home to get one this...
All of these ideas are great. Looks like I may have to do more testing on Saturday as well. May not have enough room in the smoker to do them one at once lol. I have to say this forum is a great group of people.
SQWIB those appetizers look awesome, that may get added to my trail run Friday . And MDboatbum you make a lot of good points there, because as you said these guests that are "seasoned" cooks will find something wrong with almost anything I do. So my question now is shouldn't I do the best I...
thanks SeenRed. I will definitely post some pics so y'all can grade my first work lol. but now I'm not sure how much skill I have at it lol. This is my first smoker, but I have been grilling for years. I really hope that the two kinda go hand in hand some so I don't have too big of a...
I agree with the test run Friday, as yall said I would hate to have a surprise come Saturday. I have don't the 3-2-1 method on some ribs before. I have always had to use my grill as a smoker tho. I have been looking thru the forum and found 100's of recipes ans as you said thesmokist it has...
