I am in the same situation, I have ECB want to upgrade to something a little bigger, I am going to keep using my ECB and save a little more and get the 22.5" WSM, they last for years and I do have the ECB to keep me going, so I am just going to wait a little longer and get a good one.

there is no porcelain on mine, just paint, step drill is the easiest and works good on thin sheetmetal like these, harbor freight has them pretty cheap.

if they have oreilly autoparts in your area, they carry black high temp Silicone RTV that works good and its black, it was about $6

do you remember what brand they are? I just searched and could only find the weber ones that are 10.95 ea plus shipping

Yeah, I bet you're right, if brinkman ever got the idea to improve their product, prices would probably be higher, I like tinkering and modding stuff too, if I have any more problems with mine I will get this one...

Seems like that would work good, seems better than using the firberglass rope stuff too. all you would need is the pizza tin, some sheet metal snips and a tube of high temp RTV sealant.
