    Oklahoma Joe Bronco sale

Target is selling this for $270 and I'm tempted. I currently have a MB Gravity 560 and used to have a Weber Smokey Mountain. Thinking about getting back into the drum smoker game.... Is this a little more set and forget than the WSM? I like the idea of hanging ribs and cuts of meat.

    Traeger Gourmet Blend Pellets

Saw these at Costco and decided to give them a try. They are 33% Maple, 33% Hickory and 33% Cherry. $19 for 33 pounds. A little spendy. I’ve used them a couple times now and I’m underwhelmed with the flavor. Not much smoke. Lumberjack 100% Hickory is my favorite so far.

Heating Pellets in a Pellet Smoker

I saw a thread at Pelletfan about using pellets for wood stoves in a pellet smoker. So I decided to give it a shot. I found 40lb bags of Premium Hardwood Heating Pellets at a local Menards in the Twin Cities for $4. I picked up 2 bags and have used them twice with perfectly fine results. I...

Still trying to decide on what to buy

I'm thinking about getting a pellet smoker.  I started with a WSM and it made great food but it was a real pain to operate.  I've been using a MES for about 3 years and it already failed once.  It makes pretty good food but I still have to baby it with wood chips.  I also have a Weber gas grill...

    My MES 30 has died.

I had a 7 pound butt seasoned and ready to go yesterday morning. Went to plug in the smoker and the display was blank and making a clicking sound. I have the side smoker attachment so I cold smoked it for a couple hours and cooked it in the oven. It had decent smoke flavor but not very tender...

My first smoke in the MES 30"

I picked up the MES 30" 20070910 a couple weeks ago.  I smoked 3 racks of baby backs today for dinner.  They turned out great. I'm coming from a Weber Smokey Mountain so I'm pleased with how the ribs turned out with less work. My process: I used "Magic Dust" for the rub with yellow mustard to...

Long time charcoal smoker converting to electric.

Just joined from Minneapolis Minnesota.  I've been using a Weber Smokey Mountain for years but have decided to switch to electric.  I'm tired of messing with charcoal and adjusting vents.... Bought a MES 30" last week.  It's seasoned and ready for meat.   Looking forward to finding lots of...

    New MES owner. Any tips?

I've been using a Weber Smokey Mountain charcoal smoker for a few years. Now that we have a little boy I wanted something easier to use. I picked up the MES 30" 20070910 for $139 at Amazon. Any general usage tips would be great. I'm not ready to make modifications yet so I'm sticking with the...
