Smoked butternut squash with apples and onions.

I'm trying something new with this veggie combo. I cut a butternut squash in half, covered it with thinly sliced apples and put an onion in the belly of the squash. I added some apple pie spice, drizzled a little honey over everything and put a few pats of butter on top. Had to finish it off in...

Finished this up last night and cooked a few pieces this morning.  Needless to say, I'll be having bacon for breakfast, bacon sandwiches for lunch and bacon cheese burgers for supper.  The smoker was crowded, but after the first few pieces on the bottom came out, I rotated it around and then it...

Nice big butt makes for lots of smiles at work.

I sprayed it with apple juice every hour and I didn't foil it. I've got tons a wild cherry trees on my property and this one had cherry smoke for all 12 hours.

How to destroy a Maverick et 732!!!!

Some lessons are best learned the hard way. No room in my gun safe for anything else, but I'll find a nice secure (cool) place for the new one.

Nice big butt makes for lots of smiles at work.

Applied the rub, wrapped it and let it set in the fridge for about 10 hours. Smoked it for about 12 hours, wrapped it up in foil and towels and took it to work. Pulled it in the office and served it with a little finishing sauce and some homemade BBQ sauce. Lots of smiles and new friends.
