Thank you sirs. Fired it up today. Did a little smoke on the following chicken. Spent about 1.5 hrs I. The TBS. Did some JD chips on top of some lump charcoal. The BBQ thighs have JD bbq as compliment to the smoke.
Changed out the shit "cold, right, hot" no real temps gauge for a 3"...
Bought one yesterday, got the Charbroiled 1280 from walmart. I figure if I keep it covered and take care of it I can make it last a while. Should have some TBS wednesday I'll post pics of. Stock photo, mine is a touch different. Going to replace the junky temp gauge, gasket the doors and add...
That's what I was afraid of. After pricing out some supplies for the build last night and some unexpected repairs that the fiancées car needs I think Iight just go with an entry level regular offset from a store for now.

I have seen on some other threads questions about the "ugly drums" being too thin walled to be really viable in a RF setup. How well does yours hold heat? Do you have to chuck tons and tons of wood into it to keep it up to temp or is it alright? Local ice cream distributor sells 55 gal drums for...
Up close it look like the ld should come off but I unfortunately had my little brother stick his arm in the fill hole on top and said that the inside is rounded off at that seam which tells me that that thick band is just for reinforcement like the other two that are 1/3 of the barrel apart. so...
I have some good news and some bad news, Good news I figured out that the lids do come off, they have been at a buddies for a few weeks so I didnt look at them for a while. Bad news, I can't figure out how to get them off. It's obvious that they can come off though.
