I have both the CG duo pro w/ fire box and the Weber 22.5 I like em both. The 22.5 for personal bbq's and the CG for parties and show + the smoke from the pit invites neighbors to come by with more beer and conversation.
I found oak to add a bitter flavor on my food. cherry does the same.
I tested this with a plan chicken. 2 different cooks no spices added just chicken and wood... YUCK on both.
did a 3 - 4th cook with apple and maple way better.. hope this helped..

I have a Chat Griller Duo Pro with a fire box and I love it, I can have smoke flavor with a slow cook and still grill up other food with the gas. the start up was spendy but the bragging rites with this huge caddie bbq is wonderful.. I hope this helps..
I've had nothing but problems with my MES. all i can say is that i fully rebuilt it and it still doesn't work rite. The best thing about the masterbuilt is the box, I turned it into a cold smoke with a Smoke Daddy.. Now it works..
Ialso have the same mes40 i was also having heat trouble. I called masterbuilt and they are sending me new components to see if that will help. if not they Said they will replace the unit. i hope it doesn't so i get a new smoker and i'll have a cold smoker for free...

hello, I just got a new 30' masterbuilt electric smoker. I put my sweet rub a pork loin roast weighing apx 6 lbs there was 2 of them. I preheatet the smoker with water and apple chips. it took about 10 to 15 min to get to temp. 225- 275 I also smoked a cabbage. My question for everybody is. all...
