The Joe comes with most of the accessories you would add to the BGE from what I understand.
Costco is currently having Kamado Joe road shows with some deep discounts.
Kamado grills are definitely a great thing to cook on. I have a Vision M currently.
I'm looking at something larger and am...
I have not tried high heat / pizza cooking yet. All I've done is practiced maintaining 250 and 350. I'll see about trying to get high temps this weekend.
I did a reverse sear on the stone and it was WONDERFUL!
http://www.islandgrillstone.com/support/getting-started.php has instructions for seasoning a lava stone.
Here's a couple videos
There's 2 separate size stones. The smaller diameter one fits below the main grate for indirect cooking on the main grate (or indirect cooking on the accessory grate if you get one).
The larger stone fits on the main grate with a little modification to the grate. It fits fine "as is" on the...
I can tell you that when I had my Vision Classic B from Costco, I went through 2 of the thinner style pizza stones from WalMart trying to save a couple bux. They crack...
The lava stones out of the accessory kit have been at 600+ with no problems whatsoever.
I haven't had time quite yet but pics are done and I'll pretty much copy over what I posted on Kamado Guru, but as far as a cooking stone goes, get to a Sam's Club and get their accessories pack for 99 bux. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/kamado-accessory-kit/prod14170028.ip?navAction=

Maverick didn't even ask me where it was purchased or for a receipt, but just...
I bought one from Sam's as well. VERY impressed with it so far after 3 cooks. Temp gauge had a little problem but Vision sent a new one that seems fine.
It's my second Vision. The first had 'issues" which seem to be all ironed out now.
It's a little smaller than I'm used to but it will cook 7...
I returned it for an exchange at Bass Pro.
The igniter works on this one...
The burner and regulator are the same garbage as the last one but they made it through the burn in and a smoked chicken.
I still have time to return it if I need to. I'll give it a couple cooks and see what happens.
So...3rd smoke and it's either got a bad regulator or burner.
Masterbuilt would be happy to send out new parts...some time in August because they are on back order...
They suggest I see if Bass Pro can exchange it before the return time expires...
Here's my review...
Welcome Neighbor!!
I'm in Phelan :)
I'm not familiar with your smoker but it looks like a lot of folks around here have them. I'm sure they will chime in in a bit.
Meanwhile I found a thread on a few mods some folks are doing. Here's one...
