fresh cut shagbark hickory. how long after it goes thru wood chipper can it be used?

For wood chips i fill up a mesh  onion bag and hang the chips from the shed rafters for at least 6 months The drier the wood chips, the better smoke they will produce!

    Need help selecting new cooker

what i highly recommend  is to get yourself a good digital meat thermometer.  i have found minor temp variation as well when cooking.  i cook to the desired internal temp of the meat and dont really worry as much about the temp of the grates.  I also like having the second meat probe so i can...

    Need help selecting new cooker

Congratulations!!!  You will love it!  I personally dont think you need to line the bottom with bricks.  It will make cleaning out the ash more difficult.  I just use a shop vac to clean out the ash.  The grill maintains temp easily without the bricks.  Also there is no need for a water pan...

    Need help selecting new cooker

Golfer i dont think you can get the Jim bowie gmg for under $1000, but i do know you should be able to get the daniel boone with a remote control. For me i find the daniel boone to be plenty sufficient as far as cooking space goes. Good luck!

    Smoker Recommendation

Sam3, I was the same way as you in not wanting to invest 4 figured into a grill!  I am very satisfied with the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone with remote.  It truly puts out incredible food!  and the remote control is awesome in winter!

    Smoker Recommendation

I highly recommend the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone model.  I have one and it is awesome.  Mine has the remote control so that I can monitor the grill temperature, food temp and amount of pellets in the hopper from the inside of my living room on those cold winter days!.  I have also just...

How deep to put leaf compost

I highly recommend in your clayey soils that you till it in and get it into the top 8 to 12 inches.  As far as the soil structure goes you actually want to increase the pore space between the clayey soil particles to help make for a more organically rich soil. Go ahead and break up that soil...
