Thanks Hogie. Yeah good points so I will put them in. How do you like the guru? Do you have to monitor the temps much or can you leave it unattended for a bit. Do they keep the temps steady?
I am building a 250 gal center fired RF smoker and thinking on adding a bbq guru. My question is if I add the guru do I still have to have the other intakes? Was going to make two 4"x10" intakes but not if i wont need them.
Hey Grok congrats on finishing your smoker. For some reason your last post is not showin up on here.Could you tell me how much gap you left on each side of the RF plate? Thanks
Thanks for the info Grok. When you get to the RF plate let me know the distance you leave on each end. I was thinking like 6" but not sure. thanks again.

Picked up my 250 gal propane tank today and got it all flushed out and started on the door.Using a 4 1/2 " grinder with a cutoff wheel, works pretty good. I made my door 17 1/2" x 89 1/2", almost thinking the 17 1/2 is not big enough, Anyone see a problem with that size or should it be fine? No...
Gonna be starting a RF build out of a 320 gal propane tank that measures 30" dia by 96" long. My question is would it be better to have 2 doors vs. 1 because of the weight? And how big should i make the doors? How do you decide the placement of the doors, where do you star the measurements? Thanks
Forgot 1 question. Is the top of the fire box you built completely open and then welded to the tank or did you put a partial top on it first? Thanks again

For those of you seasoned uds smokers what is your method of adding wood chips/chunks to get a long smoke. I have used mine a few times and realy like it but without an access door to add smoking chunks i have to remove the lid and take the meat out to get to the fire box.Is this what you guys...
