Nope. I ordered it through my local dealer and he fully inspects the units before accepting them. I'm only finding out about the damage after the units have been refused and sent back to Yoder.
Thanks Tweaked! That's exactly what I thought and why I reached out to them.
In regards to filing a complaint with Fedex, I can't. I'm not the one that's listed on the order, it's the local dealer. If I complained that a package was damaged on delivery to someone else, they'll just tell me to...
I emailed Yoder about the situation when I found out about the 2nd shipment's damage and didn't hear anything back from them. Before I ordered through the local dealer I had previously been working with one of their sales guys, Mike Roark. I reached out to him as a last ditch effort to find out...
My issue is that they aren't holding Fedex responsible, and not trying to ensure safe delivery of a premium product. Even the dealer said the way Yoder ships their smokers is like wrapping them in toilet paper.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
I was so excited, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Yoder YS640 with Competition Cart on 4/11. On 5/16 I got word that it actually came in on 5/9 with freight damage, the cart was scuffed up and there was significant damage to the smoker itself. At the time I was made aware of the...
"that will be to much smoke and put he meat in the danger zone to long. the smoke exiting the smoker should be TBS or "ninja smoke". if you smell smoke, that will be enough."
Right on the money!
Not to mention if it's white smoke, you'll end up with bitter meat!
You can use arrowroot to thicken it up while you're simmering it to more of a syrup or you can use xanthan gum.
Xanthan gum is used in a lot of sauces and salad dressings. It's what makes all of the good stuff like pepper stay suspended. Just like any sauce or dressing, shake the bottle before...
Hilbilly, you are right. Prime rib with the bone is a standing rib roast, without the bone it's just a Rib Roast, if you cut the rib roast into 1-1 1/2 in sections they are rib eye steaks. ...you say potato, I say yum!
I've had pretty good results with this method...it gives the chops really nice flavor without overpowering the meat or making it bitter.
Put some wood chips (cherry, apple, hickory or whatever your in the mood for) in a smoker box or loosely wrapped in foil with holes punched in it and let the...
I usually start with lump for a small bed of coals then I add the whole chunks or small branches as necessary. The main issue I have had is ash builds up a lot faster with wood.
To work around this, you can either put a small grate in the bottom of the coal pan or use a slotted metal spoon...
I was thinking about using some oven cleaner and taking the grates to a car wash, spraying them with the cleaner and then rinsing them off with some soap and a high pressure sprayer...bad idea? Here's a pic of what I'm working with.
It's finally starting to warm up enough and I'm starting to get the itch for some good (smoked) food. When I opened up the smoker I was appalled at what a bad job I did cleaning the grates. It's mostly just cooked on rub/sauce but that can't taste good now!
So, how do you clean your smoker...
When I've smoked steaks, I would push the coals to one side and throw a couple pieces of wood on the side with the coals right when I put the meat on. It takes in a lot of smoke and flavor!
Good luck!
