    Inkbird IHT-1P

I've been happily using my IHT-1P for quite a while now. Yesterday it showed "Lo" when I opened it to check temps on some sourdough bread I was proofing. I've tried to charge it using multiple different USB cables and chargers, and the display just stays blank no matter what I plug into it. The...

Shhhh...we're not supposed to tell anyone about them! ;-)

An Elusive cut of meat has been spotted in Northern Vermont

As rare as Bigfoot in some regions...you're lucky to have sighted and bagged the beast. Great story, lots of fun to read. :) Makes me think I'm going to have to go grab a couple some time this week...always a family favorite.

New to beef ribs - what's your favorite beef rib rub?

Things ended up OK, using Jeff's Texas style rub. Don't have a great pic as we were starved when they were ready and dug in w/out thinking of beauty pic. :) They were/are excellent. Wrapping time, about 3 hours in: Total hours were about 6. Leftovers below...this pic was fresh from the...

New to beef ribs - what's your favorite beef rib rub?

Thanks very much for the suggestions. My son made an executive decision last night and went w/Jeff's Texas style rub, which he liked on a smoke we did the other day. Took the ball out of a dithering father's hands and ran with it. ;-) I've realized one thing - I'm not sure what IT to use to...

New to beef ribs - what's your favorite beef rib rub?

I've got some beef ribs and wondering about what rub to use. I haven't smoked beef ribs before so this is new territory for me. I've been using Jeff's Original and Texas Style rubs on some recent smokes and like both of them. I was wondering if I should lean towards the original "since they're...

It's no big deal, just a quick salmon smoke...yet so much happiness

Thanks. Al. It's been very good, but nearly not as good looking as some other salmon smokes I've done. Another reminder that beauty on the inside is what matters.

It's no big deal, just a quick salmon smoke...yet so much happiness

I like pics too, but the smoke finished really late (10:30 I think?) due to some unexpected logistics yesterday, so they fish went into vaccuum packs (or to my neighbor's stomach) w/out any pics. They actually weren't the prettiest salmon smoke I've done, but everyone so far says they like it...

It's no big deal, just a quick salmon smoke...yet so much happiness

I did a quick salmon smoke last night, a little fish, a few apple wood chips (on really short smokes I'm still using chips w/my MES30). Brought it in and wife and son are very happy. Gave some to my neighbor (professional chef) and he's very happy. So I'm very happy too, and I wanted to thank...

First PID smoke - quick and (OMG) easy Tri-Tip. I'm hooked on PID

So you admit you painted your Tri-Tip to make it look better than mine. I'm glad we got that out into the open. ;-)

First PID smoke - quick and (OMG) easy Tri-Tip. I'm hooked on PID

Looks perfect, @hooked on smoke! I have to work on my pull temp, I let mine go just a little too long this time, didn't get it out until 131. Yours looks how I want mine to look. What temp did you smoke at, and what temp when you pulled it? I think we're going to have fun w/this PID. :) Have...

First PID smoke - quick and (OMG) easy Tri-Tip. I'm hooked on PID

Assume you got the Wi-Fi version? WSD-1500H-W? If so, were you able to connect the PID to your Wi-Fi network (When it's connected the Wi-Fi light goes solid blue on the PID display, bottom left). Or is it connected to your Wi-Fi and you don't see it or can't connect to it in the app?

First PID smoke - quick and (OMG) easy Tri-Tip. I'm hooked on PID

Thanks for the comments, guys. I am going to try to put up a general review of the WSD-1500H-W at some point in the future, including interacting w/it via the mobile app, which is both really nice and sometimes (at this early point) a little confusing or frustrating. :) E.g., there were a few...

First PID smoke - quick and (OMG) easy Tri-Tip. I'm hooked on PID

Had my first smoke using the Auber WSD-1500H-W Wi-Fi PID, with my MES30. It wasn't a big deal smoke, only about an hour for the Tri-Tip, but OMG the way the PID manages the smoker is amazing. Straight climb to set temp and held it there for the entire smoke. No overshoots, no undershoots, no...

Resting Tri-Tip w/rub before smoke - covered or uncovered in fridge?

Thanks, @noboundaries, makes sense, last thing I want is to taste salt instead of the Tri-Tip. It's in the smoker so we'll hopefully be eating soon. :)

Resting Tri-Tip w/rub before smoke - covered or uncovered in fridge?

Thanks, @thirdeye and @chopsaw Rub (which has salt) went on at about 1PM or so, smoke will start at about 5-ish. So four hours resting w/rub. So (at least for future smokes) will about five hours be enough time generally for moisture to re-absorb? I usually put the rub on the night before and...
