Thanks!
I'm in Canada and the most common price for a 20 lb bag of BK pellets in my region is $24 CAD. I found some on sale for $20 CAD per bag, so I bought a few. Works out to $1/lb
However, a 32 lb bag of Traeger pellets sells for $24 CAD at Costco ($0.75/lb). Given the feedback I see already on this...
Hi all,
I picked up my Broil King Regal 500 pellet grill last week and I love it!
Both the dealer and Broil King insist that only Broil King pellets can be used on Broil King pellet grills.
I'm wondering if anyone can speak to whether or not that is just a bunch of nonsense to get you to...
Thank you for the RecTeq recommendations. Great looking units, but unfortunately, they aren't shipping to Canada at the moment. :emoji_frowning2:

That said. I think I'm set on the BK Regal 500 Pellet Grill. I have a seller lined up and I'll be closing the deal later this...
Hi All,
I've been smoking on a Masterbuilt Vertical dual fuel smoker for about 3 years and I'm ready to switch things up.
I like the Masterbuilt for its efficiency and its smaller footprint (and its small initial investment).
What seems to be driving me crazy about it is the nearly constant...
My new ThermoPro digital thermometer arrived the other day. Had a moment to test it out in the oven and compare it with my cheap MasterChef digital thermometer.
I simply turned the oven on to 300F and put the two probes into the same Pyrex cup full of warm water. Before putting it in the oven...
Thanks for the input. I'm very excited to get the new thermometer. It sound like I might be under cooking.
As mentioned above by schlotz, the internal probe should obviously not touch the bone but can you recommend whether or not the probe should be closer to the top or bottom of the roast?
Thanks for the quick feedback!
Glad to see that my suspicions regarding the built-in temp probe are legitimate. I have ordered a ThermoPro TP08S digital dual probe temp unit for myself for father's day :emoji_laughing: but it won't arrive until next week. Once it arrives I'm going to follow...
Hi all. Hope everyone is managing to spend some quality time with their smokers this year while the world is kind of sideways.
My pork butts are turning out a bit tougher than I would like. On a 10 pound butt, roughly 60-70% is delightfully gooey and "pullable", 30-35% of the roast is...
These are all good suggestions. Good to know that there are actually quite a few different options I can explore. Going to try some of them out over the next year and see what clicks. Thanks again!
Thanks guys,
What I sort of had in mind was to start smoking in the late afternoon around 4pm and then move it to the oven (in aluminum foil) at around midnight and let it roast on low while I get some sleep. If all goes well, I should be able to pull by early afternoon.
I usually try not to...
Hey all,
Does anyone have any advice for smoking overnight? I'm finding that 2 hours per pound at 225 to 250 F for pork butt is what I have to work with. Yet, no matter how early I wake up to start (3 or 4am) I am always in a panic to feed my hangry friends family before The sun goes down...
Hey All,
New to SMF. Been smoking pork butt for pulled pork for over a year in a vertical dual fuel Masterbuilt Pro with pretty good results.
Temperature consistency is important. I am usually able to keep the box between 225 and 250 Fahrenheit but occasionally the temp jumps up to around 325...
