Aftermarket Upgrades for Pit Boss Pro 1100

I got mine in 2019. It works great and didn't want to upgrade yet because of a few replaceable parts but the costs is so high that it might make sense to. I was looking at the charcoal gravity ones lately but lots of issues with those it seems.

Aftermarket Upgrades for Pit Boss Pro 1100

My several year old Pitboss needs new grates as the stock ones have cracked on me. I also need a new sliding plates for the center pot and it has apparently rusted to the point where its falling apart. Before I look to buy the stock parts (which seem to cost as much a the grill did new), are...

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

It has been a while since I used my gas grill. But the taste is just different. Between the smoke and what I will call the "wood oven" taste profile, I prefer the pellet grill food. Even when cooking a pizza at 500 degrees in a few minutes, I get the wood oven pizzeria taste. When I would...

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

Let me add...the smoke flavor between the weber with the tube and the pellet grill is different. Can't explain the science behind it but it is different. Probably due to the main heat source.

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

For me the pellet I used tubes in my old weber and got decent smoke. Probably similar to when using just the standard pellet smoker here. With the tube and the pellet grill, it was a lot more for me. Almost too much as I already stated. I find the Pit ZBoss with cherry lumberjack pellets...

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

Honestly, I haven’t had any issues with smoke flavor once I switched to lumberjack pellets. When I’ve added a smoker tube to get more smoke I’ve found the result to be too much smoke.

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

I have the 1100 and I am glad I bought it. Emptying the hopper is very easy and I’ve never had a problem with jamming of the pellets. The lever to open up the center pot for direct grilling is used all the time. I use my 1100 for everything including smoking grilling baking. I know some of the...

Pitboss 1100 & after market heat diffuser

That experiment would lead me to the opposite of what Pit Boss told me. By using aluminum foil, it should have maintained lower temps, correct? Not flare up.

Rec Tec Bull or Pit Boss Pro 1100

I'll add my 2 cents on the pit boss vs rec tec price difference. I am an idiot with a grill and have wrecked much food cooking on charcoal grills and even expensive gas Weber's. My entry point into pellet grills was an attempt to find a grilling for dummies solution. It has worked. I cannot...

Pitboss 1100 & after market heat diffuser

Interesting. My 1100 is hottest on the right side by the smoke stack. Not the center. The temp differences have not impacted my cooks at all so I don't think the differences are that bad on mine. I have had two temp flare ups on mine where I was set to 200 and temps went up to 285-290 range...

Please recommend a pellet pooper in the $500 range.

Most won't really allow you to grill like a propane or charcoal. A few do give you a searing option like the pit boss 1100 (and probably the Austin). I think the pro series 800 pit boss also can sear. With that option, there is a part of the heat shield that you can move to expose the flame...

Please recommend a pellet pooper in the $500 range.

I will second the Pit Boss 1100. I have had mine for a couple of months and it has been great. It has a searing feature for steaks and burgers which is easily operated using a lever. The temp swings seem consistent with what others post for these grills. And it has a big hopper that can run...

Where can I get the best price on LumberJack Pellets?

Ha! Just tried to order from Rural King online to see what it would cost me as I am in Boston and they don't exist here. $4.99 per bag so put 10 in my cart. Shipping was only $280. LOL. Needless to say, I decided not to buy. Assuming I like the hickory ones I bought from Dicks, I will...

    Smoke House Pellets?

I just ordered a few bags of the Lumberjack 100% hickory to try. Found it online at Dick's for a decent price (and I had a coupon). If it is as good as people are saying I will jump on one of those bulk deals someone posted. There is a pickup spot about 30 min from me! I also saw "Char...

Pit Boss Grill Question about brisket settings

I asked this in another thread but will again here. Does the P setting do anything if you are cooking at temps higher than the "smoke" setting? I think even if you changed the P setting to 6 or 7, once you turn the dial to 200 or above, the P setting does nothing. from what others said, the P...

    P seeting and Smoke Stack

When you say it will run the unit cooler, are you talking at higher preset temps like 225 and 250 or is the p setting only working when the dial is turned to smoke? And other than cheeses, fish and jerky, what do you cook on the smoke setting? If nothing, and the p setting is only relevant to...

    P seeting and Smoke Stack

I am still new to all this pellet smoker stuff. I am learning thanks to all of you but still have questions. I know a lot here hate "pellet poopers" but this is the first grill I have owned where I have not messed anything up food wise. It is a perfect grill style for me. I have the Pit Boss...

    Pit Boss Hopper Question

I did what others suggested which was take off that top grate on the hopper and I am more cautious about checking when the hopper gets below the window line. I just did an 8 hour Boston Butt and it worked great. No issues.

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

I have had zero issues with getting good smoke flavor with my PB 1100. I think majority of people that buy pellet grills buy them for the ease and versatility.

    Pit Boss Hopper Question

Yes pressurized. What happened is exactly what you described. I have followed the grill instructions to the letter as far as proper operation but there is nothing in the book that discusses hopper management. lesson learned and I will be more attentive going forward. I will need to keep more...
