Same reason they charge 160 bucks for a 2 piece diffuser plate in the 640. I would pay and upgrade cost if say 40 bucks but they should just include it with.
Ok....I wanna go stick burner. I cant justify a new one without selling one.
I bought this 640 in April of 2019 brand new from Yoder. It includes the grill grates and spatula for it. In addition, I have the ceramic igniter upgrade new in the box waiting for the original one to go bad and a...
Ok...I can get the Shirley 24x36 and have it in three weeks. Any feedback over that vs the Lang...? Price would end up being 450 bucks more for the Shirley shipped and I would give up the charcoal side.
For the casual guy that cooks for family and friends, do I need the Shirley and would it...
Well I am searching way too hard on this. I came across Shirley and the apparent cult following of the gentlemen that build those. I’m also in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle so about as far as possible from anyone that builds these...
1. Shirley new style 24x36 cabinet. Looks nice, 3...
10 bucks a pound seems high...but that is what most cuts of steak run around me and 10 bucks at Costco buys prime so no trimming or waste. In reality it’s cheaper than steak at least in my neck of the woods.
So....I currently have a Yoder YS640 I bought and works great, no complaints. In the spirit of America and wanting what we don’t have, grass being greener, etc....I am thinking about an offset wood smoker for the days when I am here and have time to tend and want a more distinct smoke flavor...
For reference my Yoder 640 is the pre WiFi model, so I use Fireboard with an ambient probe. That probe is placed right by the meat, and is not the same as the included, attached thermocouple. I see a difference of 10-20 degrees depending on where at.
Assuming the red Tec has one...
Yoder was cheaper for me than Rec Tec Bul when package was considered. Yes, I got a can of paint with it. Haven’t used it as I clean off the drippings on the front. I am in Pacific Northwest so it’s wet.
I actually got worried about not finding any bad reviews on the rec Tec. All...
2 different animals....pellet grill like an outdoor set and forget oven...minimal work, cooking easier and less time. I’m not sure if any pellet grill that hits 600 either, think most max at 500 ish.
I can only speak to my experience with my Yoder YS640 since this spring. Mine sits under my covered porch so it doesn’t get direct rain although it is a wet climate. I believe the rust many get under the main door is due to drippings that run down when moving meat in and out that are not wiped...
Just depends what you want in priorities. I started with Masterbuilt electric, went to Weber Smokey mountain, then on to a Yoder pellet grill. I went from the electric to charcoal with wood to get more rich flavor and it delivered, didn’t seem to dry out as much as the electric. The WSM holds...
Well not sure about the OP, but I made two on Friday night. One with salt and pepper and one with Cattleman’s Calfornia Tri Tip seasoning. Hands down preferred the Cattleman’s....I ran out of it though was the only reason for the trial.
I agree with 2nd hand smoker...no point in steaks this...
I bougt the angus and prime rib ones before, and good results. I did buy a burger press for about 15 bucks on amazon and a box of wax papers then...and started buying the big packs of ground beef at Costco. Can set size in weight and prep a ton of burgers to the size you want. Could press in...
Just be advised if you are used to heavier smoke flavor you may be underwhelmed by pellet smoke. It is so much simpler though, think of them more as outdoor ovens.
I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking about the 26” kettle....miss that charcoal and hickory flavor....I just need to fire up the WSM for my non pellet fix.
