    Chips or Chunks?

Wow, Jeff, that's a quick reply! Good advice, but I'm going to buy either all chips or all chunks. Unless the Brinkman shouldn't use chips at all I'll go with the chunks. Based on your advise I'll use a hatchet to cut some chips off the chunks for the base layer.

    Chips or Chunks?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on 1 cu. ft. of smoking wood and the etailer's blog suggests that for some electric smokers wood chips are preferable to wood chunks. I have a Brinkman Gourmet bullet/water smoker and would prefer to use chunks (I think!). Also, I'm probably going to get a...

    My First Brisket

Sitting here with a glass of Buffalo Trace after a 12 hour workday (I thought it would only be 11) and all your comments are getting me thinking about cooking another brisket... ...or turkey. My sister in Manhatten invited us up for Thanksgiving. Yep, time to do some research on smoking a...

    My First Brisket

Thanks for the support guys! My BIL meant no harm and now that it's a few days later the whole thing doesn't seem like such a big deal. Re-reading my post, it seems this smoking meat thing can stir up a lot of passion!

    Temp controllers

Cheech, you're obviously a real electronics guy. I mean, how many people have thermocouple wire and a digital temp control sitting around their house as scrap? Please, don't go to any extra trouble or effort for me.

    Temp controllers

UpinSmoke, I'm a lazy guy who who wants convenience. I did a google search and saw several other electric smokers that have an adjustment knob on the outside and that's what I'm looking for. My smoker was a gift so I'm going to make some mods, but probably not any that include reaching inside...

    My First Brisket

First let me tell you my first smoked brisket was both outstanding and merely good. Yesterday was the Jewish New Year and for the dinner celebration at my sister and brother-in-lawsâ€8482 I smoked two 5 lb. briskets. Traditionally, we bring the brisket and my wife makes it in the oven with...

    Temp controllers

Novel idea, Carl! How do you adjust the heat if the knob is inside the base of the smoker? I'm hoping for the convenience of a temperature adjustment knob that's outside the smoker.

    Temp controllers

I'd like a temperature controller for my Brinkman electric and don't have the wherewithall to build one. Can any of you electrical wizards recomend a device that'll do the trick? Radio Shack carries all sorts of neat electrical stuff and maybe they have something.

From a Lurker to a Member

I've been lurking and learning here for almost a year and moreso since receiving a Brinkman electric water smoker for Father's Day. I even got the five day course from Jeff and check the www for other smoking info. So far I've made ribs twice, both turned out great, and a brisket, I'll talk...
