Yoder, Pitt and Spits, trager, blazin... etc.

Very hard to look at Cook Shack’s website and get a feel for the surface area to smoke. I’d like a unit that can handle 3 racks of ribs and a full packer brisket. From looking at their website it’s not possible on the 500 or 1000 as part of the rack space is for direct grilling. Looking at...

Humid Climate - Sacrificial Anode for Smoker?

@browneyesvictim - I live in the Houston/Galveston area. Any smoker, even with black high heat paint will rust. Covering doesn’t help & neither does rolling into garage (my garage is not finished & not air conditioned). Rolling a huge cooker into the garage is not practical in my case anyway...

Humid Climate - Sacrificial Anode for Smoker?

I researched this and can’t find anything. Is it possible to hook up a sacrificial anode to keep a smoker from rusting in a humid climate? I know sacrificial anodes can be used for other equipment. Just wondering if anyone has seen on a smoker. Thanks!

New Set & Forget? Yoder, Pitts & Spitts or Cook Shack

@Ed Crain - I had a BGE for a few years. Problem in Houston was it would mold inside, in between cooks. It’s very humid here and the humidity inside the egg would cause mold. I now suggest to my friends to keep a coffee can fill of rice in their’s to act as a desiccant. Thanks for the Yoder...

New Set & Forget? Yoder, Pitts & Spitts or Cook Shack

@lwestby - Would one of the small cabinet models suffice? I think they have one that will do a full packer brisket and two racks of ribs. I don’t really care that they look like a dormitory fridge. I don’t need to do any grilling, as I have separate gas & charcoal grills. My brother, on the...

New Set & Forget? Yoder, Pitts & Spitts or Cook Shack

Looking for a set & forget electric smoker. Trying to decide between Yoder, Pitts & Spitts & Cook Shack. The smoker will be kept outside. All I normally cook is a full packet brisket and a couple tracks of ribs. I know the Yoder and Pitts & Spitts use pellets and the Cook shack uses chips...

Pit Barrel Cooker - Help with meat hooks

I've cooked a few pork shoulders & briskets on my PBC. They always turn out nice but yesterday I was a bit flummoxed when it came to hanging my two shoulders. The fire was pretty hot & after putting the hooks in either side of pork shoulder, the hooks were facing in opposite directions. The...
