The cord matters because of amperage. A thin cord has more resistance so if the cord is thinner than the cord to the smoker the smoker will be trying to heat up fast and get hot enough to smolder the pellets but it will not have the power, try towing a toy hauler with a Honda accord, it may get...- sloth1833
