This smoke was a success! Got up saturday morning and put my 9lb butt on the smoker at 8:30ish. IT was 43...still a little frozen on the inside. Around 530 it reached 165, took it off, placed it in aluminum pan with apple juice and put it back on the smoker. I used hickory and cherry wood for...
Thank you everyone as always! I got a late start to the day so I'm going to do this during the weekend. I'd rather have a whole day to commit to it rather than being rushed.
Hey guys! For my 3rd smoke, I'm doing pork butt tomorrow! I have a good understanding on what I'm doing by reading some threads. What kind of wood do you guys use the most? When I go to the butcher, should I ask for a certain thickness?
Does anyone cook it in a throw away aluminum pan for the...

Thanks everyone! I'll keep trying for sure!
It was a little windy, but not a real strong wind or anything. Maybe I should just cook the birds without smoke for half the time then start with the chips? The skin definitely wasn't crispy
So today was my first smoke. I bought the propane charbroil smoker, got a maverick thermometer, read reviews and watched videos on my certain smoker and bough Jeff's Smoking Meat cookbook. Followed everything correctly. Today I wanted to do 2 beer can chickens. I followed the recipe, prepared my...
Purchased my smoker! Should be here over the weekend. Additionally, I picked up Jeff's Recipe book from Amazon, as well as the Maverick 732 thermometer.
Can't wait to do Beer Can Chicken as my first smoke!!
Hey everyone! New here! I've been wanting to start smoking and making some awesome meals. So I decided to purchase my first smoker! After much research, I decided to go with the Char-Broil Vertical Propane smoker (http://www.charbroil.com/walmart-propane-gas-smoker). From what I've seen, people...
