I'm in SW Ontario, so it's not as bad as I make it sound, but we do get enough snow that I cant leave it uncovered, and a tarp isn't very neighbour friendly in town.
I am thinking a half walled carport would do the trick, my shed is already wood, and I would pull it out to cook, so the Metal...
I think that Garage is bigger than my house! Yeah, a bit more than I need, but very impressive.
We moved into town 20 years ago, If I was still on the farm, I would have plenty of places to tuck it.
I just finished my first Trailer build, will update my thread once its back from Painting.
I was planning to build a mini carport (or i guess Smoker-port) on the side of my shed to park it during the Harsh Canadian Winter. I would also build a wood storage area while I'm at it.
I am just...
Got some more work done, welded in the rails for bottom rack, and the firebox wood rack. I realized that the RF plate won't fit between the rails, so I am going to have to grind one out and re-weld.
I cut the hole for drain, and welded a black iron coupling so I can remove the drain pipe if I...
Thanks for the excellent replies. I got the trailer back, and started out with ribwizzard'a suggestion, so I made cardboard template to match the radius, then I lined it up with the door and had a WTF moment. The template was bang on, indicating that door was perfect curvature.
I pondered it...
Sorry I haven't got back sooner, I have been out of the country for work. We dropped it off at the welding shop in town to get the firebox built and everything trailer mounted.
I like that idea Dave, but I don't have chain or chain binders on hand, do you think Healy duty ratchet straps would...
Yes... sorry... I am bad at the "Break for a Pic" thing. I have done it twice where I spend a few hours working and take nothing. I had to get my dad to run out and grab this one. The second is the same pic, just blown up. Please ignore my horrible welds, as I said before I have zero...
So, our door sprung, as we had expected, being only 1/8" thick steel tank. We used 1/4" strap for the flange to give it some more rigidity. We were able to clamp it to bend back most of the spring. Three corners are bang on, the fourth is sticking out about 3/4 inch. We tried a few times and...
I am only starting myself, but those calculations are very similar to mine, I guess we will sink or swim together :)
My CC is 26" by 64" 150Gal, I am using 24" cube for FB, and I think my CC/FB opening is 8" by 24". So we are very close.
I have a flat end, so I am going to raise the cutout of...
Looking Good!
I have a very similar size Trailer and am wondering what you are doing about tail lights and Wiring? I plan to mount mine just like yours and the Firebox sits essentially on the one light, which I assume is going to melt after 1-2 cooks.
That is a sweet looking smoker, I love the bronzy look after you stripped it. It would look really cool if you could maintain that somehow (Do they make High Temp Urethane for Steel or something?).
2 Questions:
1) How did you made the "Cover" for the Firebox Intakes? Did you bend the steel...
I am in the pre-planning stages of my 150gallon RF Trailer build. So far I have a tank and a dream!
I have zero welding skills, but my brother is a Novice welder (small repairs on cars, fixed patio furniture, etc), so he will be doing most of the welding. For safety's sake, we will get the...
Hello All,
I have been on my BBQ journey for about 5-6 years now. I have been competing in local Amateur Competitions across Ontario, Canada for 3 year on my homemade UDS, and am just starting to build a new 150Gallon RF Trailer build.
Look forward to chatting with you all, and will be...
