cannot get temp correct in louisiana vertical pellet smoker

Do you mean a disposible pan? Right now I'm trying a disposible pan on the left side of the bottom shelf and another one shelf up on the right side. Still a 100+ degree difference. I really don't want to run it without drip pan at all. I had a grease fire once and I'm not ready for that again.

cannot get temp correct in louisiana vertical pellet smoker

Yes, it is the Costco one. I have no problem using the external probes and ignoring the control panel. i really like smoked potatoes which have to bake at 400 (America’s test kitchen method, but with a smoker). I roast chicken legs And thighs at 375 for the right outcome on the skins...

cannot get temp correct in louisiana vertical pellet smoker

I'm not worried about what the controller say, but the problem is that my controller's highest setting is 450, and when it is set to that the box is at 315 on the independent probes which isn't hot enough. The only way I could talk the pit into getting hotter would be to relocate the...

cannot get temp correct in louisiana vertical pellet smoker

This is an interesting one, and I think I have a solution, but I need a gut-check whether it is safe or not. Symptom: I've got an inkbird wifi probe which I have put 4 temperature probes around the box to check for the actual box temps versus the reading temp on the control panel. With the...

Looking for pics setup with amns and mes

I did a "built in" mailbox mod using concrete (aka cinder) blocks. Works the same, but my wife appreciates how finished it looks. I also added an 8 foot chimney (after the pic shown) to get the smoke above the roof line. We have an attic vent right above the smoker and the smoke was getting in...

    The concrete block mod

Here it is. I still have the finishing touches left. Need to grind the concrete counter, paint the stucco, and seal the counter. I wound up having to drill a few holes in the access door to keep the AMNPS lit, but it sure did work well. Can't wait until the winter to try some cold smoking.

    The concrete block mod

It just occurred to me. Aren't the typical mailboxes used in the mailbox mod galvanized and powder coated?

    The concrete block mod

Dang, I already ordered the other. That one looks cooler. I'm really not worried about the galvanization. For one, the temporary styrofoam didn't get warm and if it didn't melt, the AMNPS isn't going to get past powder coating enough to burn off the nickel.

    The concrete block mod

ive been fighting keeping my AMNPS lit since I got it. I have an mes30. If I positioned a fan at the chip loader with it removed, my AMNPS would stay lit, but I'd only get about 3 hours out of it. Frustrating. So, I thought I'd try the mailbox mod. Then I realized that I also wanted to build in...

    New guy from Dallas

been reading here for a while. I've got an MES 30 with an AMNPS. I also have a broilmaster built in natural gas grill in the side yard and a Napoleon 450 natural gas in the backyard by the pool. I got into smoking because my wife and I volunteer at a small second chance school in the south...
