Hello. I made a homemade electric smoker out of a Brinkman charcoal smoker. It had four air shutters on it. I insulated the whole box with 1/4" cement board (riveted it on), then wrapped in moving blankets. I can reach 300 degrees now no problem. I only used one of the air shutters at the top...

Hello again. I just made two racks of back ribs in my electric smoker. I did the 3-2-1 method. I put a rub on them and refrigerated over night. I set them out on the counter for a half an hour before I put them in the smoker. I had a pan of apple and cherry wood for smoke.
Steady temp of 230*...
Trying to cook drumsticks. I thought I had a game plan but I was mistaken. I'm using a modified Brinkman smoker. Made it an electric. I can now get it up to 300* no problem. Here was my procedure. About 10 am, inject the wings with a combo of Creole Butter and Franks Hot Wing Sauce mixed about...
I had a a nice 5 lb. center gut pork loin. Cut it in half. Put some mustard on the pieces and put a rub I found on the net, on both sides. Wrapped them in glad wrap and put them in the fridge over night. Next day, took out of fridge and let sit on the counter for 1/2 hour. Cooked in my electric...
Hello. Quick question, just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm doing baby backs later today on my modified charcol to electric smoker. (pictures to come). Any how, I'm going to fire up the smoker with the wood chips in a pan resting right on the element. Once the temp is up to 225-230...
Hello again. Smoken meat has really got my attention lately. Before I went out and spent big money on a smoker I wanted to start out small and cheap to see if I was cut out for this. In another thread I asked about modifying a small chest freezer to an electric smoker. The more I looked at it...
Hello all, new at this so bear with me. I got this chest freezer for free. It has a bad compressor. Its a Kenmore 5.0 cu. ft. The inside
dimensions are 27" deep, 23" wide and 15" across. I was thinking of putting an electric element where the compressor compartment is and pipe the smoke into...
Yellow all. I want to build a small electric smoker and try my hand at smoking. I got elements and temperature controllers. I'm been waiting to pick up a enclosure to use.
Today I found a cabinet with a door in the front. It measures about 2' wide X 2' high X 3'
deep. It has a SS top but the...

Hello, I have a Nesco fd75 dehydrator that I just got. I made jerky out of ground beef using that caulking gun you can buy. I bought a case of the Nesco jerky spice works seasoning packs.
The batch of jerky I made with the original "hot" seasoning was a little too hot for my taste.I didn't care...
