New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Hi guys, well it's been a few years since my build and I am going to my first amateur competition in a few weeks. So I have dropped in to get so rub ideas and thought I would post a few pictures of my finished smoker. It works well and pulls nice, 2,000# with brakes and led lights

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Ok so I thought if that chimney on the end would offer more control, and faster starts, time will tell, and it looks kinda cool . the 6" flue/pipe across the bottom seems to work well, I put a small baffle on an angle that I can slide front to back to allow heat to flow to the front better and...

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Hey thanks guys, we got the smoker going this Saturday and all went really well! Smoker held the temp at 225 over 6 hours without to much playing around, I could keep the air intake on the firebox open about half way all afternoon. We used maybe 4 10" x 16" chunks of Maple split up and a...

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Thanks Todd, I picked up a Plasma cutter after I cut the door out with a zip blade and a sawzall ( what a great new toy!)  I did use a laser level to mark out the cuts to the end of the tank . We will be trying it out on some ribs this Sat while I start on the trailer mods.

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Test fire went well, I was surprised how little fire wood it required to hold the temp in the main chamber at 250 lower rack and at least 30 degress hotter at upper shelf, the warmer box got up to 185 after 3hrs or so. Now to get to work on the trailer my buddy donated to the project, here is...

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

I was going to put in 2- 6" pipes but I ran out of pipe. if it is a problem it won't be that hard to add another or get rid of one! Do you think I need to put a damper on the holes into the warming/cooking box were my second chimney is? My thinking was the air intake on the fire box would be...

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

OK, here is my thinking, with the flue from the fire box going across the cooking chamber it will work like a reverse flow and keep temps more even side to side then I can lay in a baffle to catch the drippings without welding it in or maybe I will just add rack of some sort to hold pans of...

New project reverse flow with extra box over fire box

Hi, so I was thinking about running a 6" pipe across the bottom and then laying in the baffle without any welds so I could lift it out and pressure wash the inside once in a while, does this make sense and is a 6" flue from the fire box big enough? Check out the pictures
