I have had this smoker for a couple of years, today as I use it for the first time this year, the remote wont work. I installed new batteries and can see the display come on for a second and then off. The on/off button doesn't do anything.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Hello everyone,
With Thanksgiving coming up, I'm thinking about Turkey dinner and how to use my smoker!
I'm sure someone has smoked their Turkey in their MES before, How did they turn out?? And how long did it take for say a 14 lb bird?
Thanks
That would be fun to go to. I wonder what they do with all the meat they smoke. I saw it on BBQ pitmasters once and it looked like there were hundreds of competitors! I'd say if you were able to attend and were not too far away it would be worth it, providing the weather was decent! Heck it...
That would leave me scratching my head as well! Yes you need to get an external temp gauge. I thiink Todd has them now, he's the guy who sells the amazing pellet smoker here on the forum. He has the maverick thermometer set. Its one of the best out there. A definite plus no matter where you do...
Just wondering how many of you guys are using the chimney suggestion someone on here posted awhile back and your comments about it. I decided to create a new thread so we can all get others comments and Idea's .
Personally I think its just what the doctor ordered. I has made it easier to...
With the MES, the thing is, the heating element must be on to make smoke. That is until you get some coals going, its not like a combustion chamber, its not meant to be a fire going. Just enough to cause the chips to smolder and produce smoke. They will burn to ash but not the way we think...
I had the same issue, I received the new control panel but I'm not really sure if that fixed the problem. I haven't felt good enough to smoke anything for awhile, but hope to tomorrow. I'll have to take good notes and see if it really helps. I picked up a chimney for it tonight at Menards, (a 3"...
So true, but I'd like to think the electric is the healthiest of all, if any of it is unhealthy. I mean they've been cooking over wood fires for centuries, but then again they didn't live as long as we do!
My wife is concerned that using my smoker too much is bad for my health. I can see that sometimes if a person was using green wood too often that might be an issue. But with the electric smokers, it just seems like it would be healthier. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm sure others have...
