    Help with new smoker choice

Greetings! I SAW THE LIGHT! After running electrics and gas for two decades, I made the switch to charcoal. I am retired and have the time now for charcoal. I bought a Weber 18 inch Smokey Mountain. It can be set up to run all night or day. The taste difference is amazing! I keep the gas and...

    Calling all Smoke Hollow owners!

No problems with mine. It sounds like you have all of the vents closed as evidenced when it works when the door is open. You are in effect opening a "big" vent.

    Calling all Smoke Hollow owners!

Hello, I have the single burner unit. When you replaced the chip tray, did you just lay the cast iron pans on the "slide rail"?

    Calling all Smoke Hollow owners!

Hello all, I have the single burner version and am equally pleased with it. To get around the chip/chunk tray problem, there are about 20 levels to set up the grate rails on. I moved the bottom rails just high enough to get to the wood pan. The water pan sits on that. Then I can put big chunks...

    Calling all Smoke Hollow owners!

I echo the Bayou Classic regulator AND the wind screen (you may not need that). I actually bought 3 regulators and use them on the hybrid grill and the Great Outdoors Smoky Mountain 34 inch vertical (15 years old-still going strong). No problem in sub freezing weather. Cheers!

Smoke Hollow Pro 36 Upright Gas

Hi there, Welcome! You are correct about the brands changing. I recommend buying a cover for it, worth the investment. Also, I recommend the Maverick ET-732--takes the guess work out. It has two probes, one for meat and one for internal smoker temp. What kind of wood and water pans came with...

Smoke Hollow Pro 36 Upright Gas

Gentlemen, I have not posted any reviews yet so I thought start out a “little” different with three reviews combined into one, so to speak. Smoke Hollow Pro 36 The main reason for this review is the Smoke Hollow Pro 36, the little brother of the 44. I got it at Sam’s for $124. I don’t think...

How did you come up with your screen name?

Glad to hear from some fellow NM smokers! What are your favorite smokers? Mine is a 40" Smoke Hollow vertical with a SmokeDaddy mounted on the side.

How did you come up with your screen name?

My name is self explanatory. I'm a New Mexico native (my wife too). I'm a desert rat (second name choice)and love the wide open spaces. My wife and I both cook. Being in New Mexico (chili capital of the world), my smoking has a New Mexican, not Mexican, theme and taste. Authentic Mexican food...

    SMOKIN-IT SMOKER

Every time we travel to Grand Junction (next to Fruita) I say hi to Bert. One thing l like to do is think "Hmmm...I wonder what cherry and apricot would taste like with a slight finish of maple". The possibilities are endless!!!

This unit #2 is DEFINITELY my next. I have a question about the heater element. How does it hold up in the long run? Has anyone tried FRUITAWOODCHUNKS yet? I'm thinking about a thread on mixing different wood chunks and/or differences between woods. I've seen ones about woods but they aren't...

Disappointed with amount of smoke; bought a master built electric 40" added updated part sent by mas

Regarding the AMNPS vs Smoke Daddy: yes the AMNPS works as advertised, HOWEVER, the selection of sawdust is severely limited. I have the Big Kahuna Smoke Daddy aand a variety of 8 different woods and a hatchet to make the chunks just right. To me, part of smoking is tending the fire.

    SMOKIN-IT SMOKER

Sorry guys, the URL did not make it in the post. What is fun with so many choices is you can create your own "mystery wood" by mixing different types. URLs may not be allowed here so you can Google Fruita Wood Chips and there you go. Cheers!

    Excellent Internet Wood Source

Regarding wood sources, I have one in Colorado that has an amazing selection of wood chunks. He specializes in chunks and actually sells a lot for competitions. Shipping is free for 10 and 15 pound boxes anywhere in all 50 states. He cuts the wood on order from so it doesn't dry out and stores...

    SMOKIN-IT SMOKER

It is SOOOOOO refreshing to hear stuff about other brands THAT ARE NOT Masterbuilt!!!!! It seems that they rate from walking on water or they sink (mostly sink, it seems). I have a Great Outdoors propane unit like Jeff''s with a Big Daddy cold smoke generator attached plus a Brinkman Gourmet...

    apple chunks

I also llike pecan, cherry and apple. If you like those, I WARN YOU, avoid peach! It will take over minds and senses. I have converted avid smoke haters and beaten hickory restaurants in comparisons.

    Fireproof Safety "Mat"

Good day, all, I notice in pictures that the smokers are setting on a wood deck or porch. possible fire? I found a goodie at Lowes or Home Depot called a Hardebacker cement board, used for laying cement. It RESEMBLES asbestos, but is legal and safe. It is fireproof and absorbs stains. Comes...
