I cooked jerky yesterday. Used eye of round. I am very pleased with end result. 180 degrees for 4 1/2 hours. There is still a little moisture on surface but I didnt want it get to point it snaps when bent.
What do you think of my first jerky?
I've seen videos using eye of round. Thinking about doing that. Meat doesn't coct much and if I ruin it, not a big loss.
But, I'm hoping for a great snack to share with friends and neighbors.
Being new to cooking with my Memphis Elevate pellet smoker, I'm seeing posts about beef jerky. I want to try it. I see that Amazon has several premade marinades and kits or mixes for marinating. Does anyone have any experience with these or another source for making a marinade for my first jerky...
The problem i have with pork butt or brisket is that I'm cooking for 2 people. Neither of us eats much at a time so even 1 rack of ribs is at least 2 meals for both of us.
I'm still having fun trying new things and getting some leftovers in my freezer.
