    WSM Temps too High?

Thanks guys, these last few tips are useful. My smoker is about 3 years old, so it is definitely seasoned. BUT, after I take the meat off, it stays hot for hours usually, certainly until all the coals are burned through (although, I usually do not cover that last hole where the Guru adapter...

    WSM Temps too High?

I use standard Kingsford charcoal. I don't think the guru is at fault, as the fan is off the entire time. I will try the top vent in the future. Have always read never to touch it but I'll give that a go. I mean if it's getting too hot, and the fan isn't going, air has to be getting in there...

    WSM 18.5 Temp Control

Hey guys, Thanks for such quick responses. Was hoping my first smoke overnight would have just gone swimmingly, but I suppose a learning curve is involved. I've used the WSM probably twenty times in the past year or two. The top vent was fully open of course. I put temp probes right next...

    WSM 18.5 Temp Control

Hi All, Quick one here -  Just bought a PartyQ and doing 2, 10-lb pork butts overnight. Minion method, lit about 15-20 coals, about 35-40 degrees here in DC. As per PartyQ instructions, all vents are either closed or covered with tape except the fan vent. Thought if anything, my batteries...
