Posted earlier about problems getting my amazin pellet to stay lit. Finally did the mailbox smoker mod..and it turned out GREAT. Just a few tips for Newbies ( gee I been at it for a month, did I graduate to Newbie +++?). First off, the key to keeping it lit is a matter of good airflow and ...

Thanks Bear....probably just the " rookie" in me having the problem with the AMNPS. Should be  simple...it's Either air supply or something particular to the pellets. I would suspect it is air flow..they seem to light but go out. ....my "rookie" guess would be the starving for air approach...

Had an extra mailbox here....so going to try the mailbox attachment. Just wondered if the placement of the mailbox is critical to the smoke getting into the MES40? Does it have to be a certain distance below or even with the MES? Does it make a difference? Also....about the draft hole in the...

I had the AMNPS on the third rack down from the top...on the front left hand side. The rib slab was on the second rack and covered pretty much the entire surface. I had the water pan over the heating element, but did not have any liquid in the pan. The bottom drip catch pan was in it's normal...

    Maerbuilt Electric New Guy....hmmmmm

Tried my first batch of pork ribs ( Bear #2 recipe step by step). I seemed to have a hard time keeping the pellets going but finally got them going. Problem is it raised the temp in the MASTER quickly, and I had to toggle the temp setting to get it down. It produced some great smoke though. I...

Go the MAZE smoker and pellets ready to go. One last thing......If I am reading the manual correctly...I lay the pellets along the maze and light the pellets at the smoke hole. Do the pellets at this point "cath" the other pellets on fire....or do I have to put the torch directly on the whole...

Hey Taxifornia....we're coming right up there with ya here in the worker's paradise state of Illinois. Latest new tax idea is to tax the amount of barbque smoke emitted by our smokers. Each resident will receive a quota on the amount of smoke, one can generate in a 6 month period.

~~Any recommendations on which unit would work best for a newbie? Do you think the wood chip device with the MB40 does not produce enough smoke? Guide me along the barbeque highway....I don't really see a lot of places that sell sawdust, so wondered if one of the other units would be easier to...

    Maerbuilt Electric New Guy....hmmmmm

Totally agree....I used the Maverick after about 2 hours..there was about an 8 degree variance in the temp. I ended up going more by time than all temperature. After about 4 hours...I went to the foil wrap ( was using BEAR's recipe for MasterBuilt), and ended up with a nice piece of meat for a...

Big tip of the hat to all. Been using the Weber grill for years, thought it was time to "up my game/" and join the big boys. I tried using the Weber with Smoke n ator attachment for smoking, but just could not keep the temperatures steady. I have the Maverick probe, and it works great.I went...
