I started my build. I burnt it out and then sandblasted. I'm using my old Weber kettle bottom for the lid. The kettle lid I used the outside ring inserted it in the drum to make a tight fit for the kennel bottom.

That's a good point about reusing the lid for your Webber. I was just thinking the extra space you get out of the bottom of the Webber would seem worth sacrificing the old Webber I got. And the handle on the side would be for when I hinge it. I was wondering if the bigger dome is bad for smoking...

I'm building my first uds. I've researched quite a bit and I am wondering why people don't use the bottom of a Webber kettle for the lid over the top part. I am a metal worker so fitting the kettle bottom, top, or just flat lid is all doable for me. Is there a reason I don't know about? I'm in...
