I know some of you have muscle cars, trucks, Harley's, or speed boats...lets see'um!!!

I've owned (and sold) a small fleet of muscle cars. Based on today's prices, I sold too soon and for too little! Still dream about my deep blue 66 GTO tri-power four speed.

    Weber Kettle - Rotisserie Chicken

It's a great buy, I love mine! I'm going to try the direct over the coals method, I've been doing a perimeter briquette ring and putting a drip man under the bird but that does not produce the fantastic skin like yours.

    Beef Cost is Unreal!

That's a decent price these days. An advert for a new location of a BBQ joint in southaustin showed their menu board and brisket was $30 per lb.

    What are you watching ?

Knight of the 7 kingdoms. The Pitt may be the best TV show ever. Also just watched House of Dragons, it's better than GOF. For non conflict TV we watched every episode of Great British Baking Show (dang those brits are cheerful and polite!).

Trying To Decide Where To Re-Locate

I would have to retain ready access to grocery stores and medical care. As a younger person I dreamed of a plot of land away from the big city along with a barn, large garden a workshop and various critters and domestic animals. Now I am addicted to multiple shopping choices, doctors and...

My Turn to Start Figuring Out Medicare

Humana publishes all out of pocket costs and the worst case is under $10K a year. That sounds like a high number but that's for BIG stuff like brain surgery or massive car crash injuries and/or prolonged hospital stays. I've already saved more than that by kicking standard medicare to the curb...

My Turn to Start Figuring Out Medicare

Over my wife's strong paranoid objections, I joined Humana advantage. After she watched for a year, she also signed up. First thing is we saved $3000 a year in secondry insurance we needed with medicare as we pay NOTHING per month. She was worried they would not cover expensive drugs like her...

    Smoker advice needed please.

You may consider a "holding oven" as well. You can pull the brisket when internal temp hits 180/190, wrap and hold for 12 to 18 hours at 150. The results are amazing. Smoking to 180 takes around 8 hours at 275 and that would allow you to maintain normal human sleep patterns.

Free Charcoal Briquettes: Orange County Calif

A bit off topic but there's a trucking company called "Forward Air" and if you can get your stuff in a crate or on a pallet, they offer the lowest bulk shipping costs anywhere, anytime. You have to deliver to their freight dock however and the shipment must be picked up at their other dock...

I guess it's time for some more doses of neem oil!

last peppers harvested and plants "winterized".

Several of the instructional videos I watched mentioned washing all of the dirt off the root ball, and soaking in diluted hydrogen peroxide solution along with a root ball and overall wash with neem oil. Removing all the leaves is also mentioned. I didn't have any pests resident (I think) do to...

last peppers harvested and plants "winterized".

I'm in zone 8, so it won't get really cold until Jan/Feb..Austin Tx. I'm a big fan of plastic sheet "vis-queen" type construction. Use strips of cardboard box and a staple gun with 7/16 staples. The plants were started from seed last Feb, so not quite a year old. Theres tons of YouTube videos on...

last peppers harvested and plants "winterized".

I decided to go ahead and winterize my pepper garden. Made up a greenhouse on my screen porch and have an oil filled radiator on standby for when it gets cold. I hated to do it but the fruits had sort of stalled and the leaves were starting to wilt. Lots of mini bite size peppers, and yes those...

    Pepper "de-boning" tool

I’m already shocked! They should have paired it with the “BassMaster”….

    Update on Jalapeno oddities..

Here in Austin, we can tell when winter has arrived because everything turns green and starts growing. My tomato plants started blooming and producing fruit two weeks ago after sitting out in the Africa hot sun for months.. Next year I may air condition a mini greenhouse so I can eat home grown...
