The compliment is appreciated Keith! I went and looked at the link - I don't know how heavy or well-built that cooker is, but I don't see how I could build one for what that grill costs. It doesn't have a huge cooking area, but it looks like a nice grill!

Yeah, I wasn’t familiar with those either until Jim showed ‘em to me. Very cool little gadget - kinda high-tech caveman style lol! 🤣. And Jim’s right - that will work nicely over this brasero!

It's never too late for a road trip, my friend! No waiting lists here, Brother! I do 'em one at a time, and so far that's all I have going is just one at a time. It's a hobby, not a business or a side hustle, so it's not really like I'm taking orders or anything lol. If you decided you...
Dang it, David, that does suck! :emoji_laughing:
If we only lived a bit closer to each other (and in the same country lol).
Thanks for the kind words Brother!

To be honest, Keith, I had the same thoughts about this. But I did a fairly exhaustive search of existing braseros for open fire cookers, and they're all are designed like this. So I decided to stick with accepted design. Maybe the difference is it's open air? Plus, I think the idea behind...
I have grandad stuff going this weekend, but wanted to make a quick post to update on what I got done in the shop yesterday. I finished the brasero, and got it welded to the side of the grill.
Here's what I came up with for the front face of the brasero. This should keep the logs/fire tamed...
Yep - that one's already in the plans. I figure everyone who cooks on a Santa Maria with a brasero needs a shovel and a coal rake. And while I'm not sure I'm making heads-or-tails out of your drawing, I think we're on the same page lol.
I'm planning something that will have a rake-head on the...
Thanks Cortney - I think it's coming along real well. And you're kinda confirming what I have in mind for the face of the brasero - a partial plate-cover above fire grate level...mostly to tame the log fire and concentrate heat.
I thought about a completely open pit design with the brasero and...
Howdy Friends!
Hope everyone's holidays were as happy as mine, and Happy New Year to all!
I've got some progress to post on Jim's grill. Last thing I updated was working on the firebrick channel around the interior of the main body.
I got the back piece tacked in and checked everything for...
Howdy Justin! Thanks my friend! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your family Brother!
Thank you Chris, but I'm certain that a real, professional welder would laugh and shake his head at my skills lol! My only fabrication strengths are, I'm meticulous, and I'm stubborn - I won't...
Thank you David! A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family as well!
Thank you Tom! I don't mind at all! Merry Christmas my friend!

Merry Christmas Keith!
Only place I drink anymore is in the comfort and privacy of my own home! So I can’t be accused of abusing alcohol! 🤣
Merry Christmas John!
It’d take one enormous stocking lol! 🤣
