    Girls Are Really Putting Out!!

Slow when they first get to laying age, solid layers for maybe 2 or 3 years, then they start to decline. I never have had one live long enough to run out, but I usually cull the older ones when they stop being overly productive, unless they die first.

    Girls Are Really Putting Out!!

My girls are slowing down as the days get shorter. Yeah, I know you can put a light in the coop to fool them, but in reality, all that accomplishes is burning them out faster. Each hen is born (hatched) with as many undeveloped eggs in her ovaries as she will lay over her lifetime.

Such Great People on this Forum

I have been known to cuss on forums where it is acceptable, or maybe even expected, but I refrain from salty language in this forum because it isn't either acceptable, nor expected. A matter of knowing where you are at and what behavior is acceptable in the context of the site.

Such Great People on this Forum

I earned each and every one of these gray hairs on my head and face and am proud to show them. Lately I'm going more to white than gray ..... guess I could get a side hustle playing Santa with the Christmas season around the corner lol.

How long has that pizza sat on the counter?

You know the pizza is going to be fantastic if the guy making it can barely speak English, and grunts at you more than anything while taking the order.

How long has that pizza sat on the counter?

Only if it gets bricked so hard that you'd break your teeth trying to chew it.

How long has that pizza sat on the counter?

Don't take too many days to render the pizza rock hard and pretty much inedible. Know from experience lol.

How long has that pizza sat on the counter?

I have always eaten left over pizza left on the counter or on top of the fridge all my life. Never been an issue.

I figured I should give a follow up since I posted it in the open forum (prostate biopsy)

Thanks, Jerry. It feels really good to see positive results after all that the treatment puts you through.

    True Dry Cured Bacon.

Smoke until you get the color you want. With cold smoked bacon, it is not taken to a temp considered ready to eat, so yes, fry it. With hot smoked bacon taken to 145°F, it is safe to be eaten as is, but better fried first.

PSA at 1.8, baby! Down from 4.5 pre-radiation. I think they expect it to go down to 0.5 or less, eventually, but it doesn't happen over night. And F cancer!

    True Dry Cured Bacon.

The sodium nitrite initially applied to the meat is converted to nitric oxide and gassed out during the process of curing. There really isn't much left in the finished product.

What in the Sweet Baby Jesus is going on? Meat prices.

I started working part time around 1980 as a high school student with an after-school job. "The U.S. federal minimum wage was $3.10 per hour in 1980, effective January 1, 1980, after increasing from $2.90 in 1979 and before rising to $3.35 in 1981". There was no way in hell anyone could...

What in the Sweet Baby Jesus is going on? Meat prices.

The origin of it was to not underpay, mostly teens with an afterschool job learning what working for a living was all about. It was never meant to be a living wage.

    True Dry Cured Bacon.

Yep, no need to rinse. I think I did the first go, but learned that it is unnecessary with equilibrium cures.
