    Reheating an already smoked turkey

I have been asked to smoke a turkey for Thanksgiving.  I live in Kentucky, the turkey will be consumed in Ohio, and I am not able to move the smoker to Ohio. My plan is to smoke the turkey to 140deg (the temp where no more smoke is absorbed) on the Saturday or Sunday before turkey day, cool it...

Tips for smoking on a Brinkmann Southfork Smoker Grill

Well I finally used it!!!!   I didn't think it was supposed to rain Sunday but it did. That'ds why the smoker is inside the barn.  The air temp was 70 deg or so and I had a hard time keeping the temp below 250, it wanted to stay at 275 with both vents SHUT.  I am using the factory gage for now...

Tips for smoking on a Brinkmann Southfork Smoker Grill

Can anyone else help me? I do appreciate ThunderDome's answer so I have an idea of what it takes to get the vertical part to 250.  I still haven't cooked on it but am planning to in 2 weeks. I am planning on cooking for my in-laws annual 4th of July party. So in 2 weeks I am going to do a...

Tips for smoking on a Brinkmann Southfork Smoker Grill

Yes, that does help. It is more info than I had before. I am also in the midst of building a homebrew temp controller. The original design is over on TVWBB.  Later this summer I can do some loooooong smokes and really get to test my skills.

Tips for smoking on a Brinkmann Southfork Smoker Grill

I got a Brinkmann Southfork Smoker for x-mas, with permission of SWMBO of course.    I haven't smoked on it yet due to school and work demands but am hoping to change that come Memorial Day Weekend. I owned a Chargriller with SFB and was familiar with it but have never smoked on a smoker that...

    ET-73 mod. (antenna tube) ?

Radio Shack used to carry everything, and had people who new what that stuff was. Now, if it doesn't hook up to a computer, good luck having someone who works there know what you are looking for. Sorry for the rant. Anyways, go to a hobby shop you have locally that sells R/C car/planes and ask...

Qviews of my 1st Butt(s) in ProQ Excel 20

I just read your post this morning (8AM) and am drooling. All the food I will eat today doesn't sound very tasty after reading this. I have to know, what kind of flavors do you get from the spritz with rum? Wondering how sweet it is. Also, would you share the recipe for the apple pepper...

Has anyone done the external an tenna mod to an ET7?

I am looking at buying an ET7 http://www.amazon.com/Maverick-Remot.../dp/B00004SZ10. I know about the mod for adding an external antenna to the ET73 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/for...ad.php?t=85437 http://www.instructables.com/id/Incr...Q-Thermometer/ but am wondering if the same can...

    Bell Fab Feedback Please

WoooHoooo Just talked with Craig (Bell Fab). Mine is in queue to be built. When I spoke with him Friday he quoted end of April, today his estimate was 2nd week of May. If anyone is having thoughts of ordering from him, I'd suggest talking to him quick so you don't miss summer bbq-ing time. Ryan

PID fan controller for the drum

That's what I was afraid of, thought I was missing something on having to buy 5 cards for 5 temps. I suppose I'm going to do my cheap and dirty way short term: fan w/ PID controller. I'll look at doing my VEE based controller down the road. I just got the OK from SWMBO to buy the smoker and...

PID fan controller for the drum

Josh, Would you list all the parts required to do a 4 meat probes/1 smoker probe build in Phidgets? I am planning on doing this in VEE, HOPEFULLY. Where did you get your probes? I am looking at k-type thermocouples and Maverick style probes but am up oin the air right now. BTW, does anyone...

    Bell Fab Feedback Please

http://www.bellfab.com/ Also, any of you in the 20" class, does a second shelf help more than it hurts? I want a second shelf but could see where it might limit my height too much. Thoughts? Thanks again, Ryan

    Bell Fab Feedback Please

chiggerbait Glad to hear those are standard now, looks like I'll have just a couple of mods I want. I'm happy about getting the t-handle, but need 4 wheels for loading onto my tilt trailer. Does the t-handle stow out of the way when not in use? 3montes Yeah, I'm not happy about the shipping...

Does anyone have any details on the baffle and tuning plates? Dimensions, locations, etc? I don't have any easy way to fab stuff anymore. I just want to season and use it upon arrival. Thanks, Ryan

    Bell Fab Feedback Please

Looking for some feedback here, especially from JDT, Bman62526, and anyone else who owns a Bell Fab unit. I got the OK from the wife to pull the trigger on a smoker, so I am thinking 20” x 36” from Bell Fab with these options. This is the cheapest time to change my mind so I would like...

PID fan controller for the drum

Josh, I am thinking of doing this on an offset fire box but it seems as though the heat from the box would melt the PVC tubing. Have you had any issues with this? I came up with the idea of making a phonelic adapter (female thread on both ends) as a way to keep the heat from being transferred...
