No, as long as the PID and all other components are rated for either voltage, you can go either way. Most PID's can run on either. The wiring for some parts of the circuit is different though as the Neutral leg of the circuit is not needed or used in a totally 220v circuit. Make sure all your...
Just a personal observation, If someone was inclined to buy one of these now, I would do it via Amazon as at least you can send it back through Amazon returns (and use a real credit card - not a debit so you can do a charge back if they are less than helpful).
Glad I resisted the urge to join the kickstarter. To help some of the members here out, here is some contact info that may be useful if they are less than responsive. They are HQ in the UK, but have a California office for USA (per the BBB and google searches).
HUGE RED FLAG - Google 11908...
Yes, I drew them as 2 different components, but a combined unit will work. I wired the PID for 110v operations in the diagram. Same for both indicators in the diagram (110v).
Ok, I reworked the drawing to what I think you want. If anyone sees an error, let me know.
I posted about the same time you did about no breaker - so I modified it to take the breaker out.
NOTE: I'm no engineer and use this at your own risk. If you are not certain of the wiring or what you...
You need to move/change the element on indicator light location. As in your schematic, you have the full amperage for the element flowing through the LED or Neon indicator, which is a high resistance load (currently wired "in series" with the element). That will not work. You want the leg of...
In addition to the grease drain, it should draft air through the fan and the path of the fan to the fire pot should it not? Not saying the fan is on, but that air flow path still should draft some.
Reminds me of a true story...
Our neighbor had a firewood stack on the back of his property where it meets mine. He had a son who was maybe 4 years old at the time. One day we were sitting on the deck in our back yard and the neighbor's son was in his yard playing. He came around behind the...
Mine is a stone I bought ages ago (even before I had a smoker), probably 30 years ago. We used it in the oven a time or two, but it was more a novelty than anything else. I dug it out of storage and it fit the PB5 rack perfect. It's fairly thin at about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch thick. It's a...
Well, the Pit Boss 5 vertical holds 55 pounds of pellets if you fill it. I've done a burn in and 4 smokes on mine with the 20 pounds I first put in, and I would say I have at least 1/3 of that and possibly 1/2 of that left. So if you don't open the door and let the heat out, the PB will run a...
Time to find a new source (and new meat company if that is what they use for their products as well). That is not right. Try Syracuse Casings Co, they have excellent products and pre-tubed casings are a breeze to use.
If you like the way it works, I would suggest looking on Amazon for a stainless steel pan that will be the right size for the PB4. The foil keeps the pan clean, so a more permanent pan will work just fine. They have a very wide range of pans on Amazon. I even found one that fits my LEM 10...
Looks great!
Sounds like the vaporized drippings are contributing to the black coating from prior smokes. Interesting.
Also my wife would have a stroke if I took one of her Wilton cake pans and put it in the smoker. She is particularly picky about those pans!
Hey, can't hate an entrepreneur... Probably just wanted the Assassin gravity fed smoker. I bet some of the other stuff ends up selling and he gets the Assassin for free and pockets some extra coin.... There was a lot of value in that deal.
Hell, if he was within 2 states of me, that's what I...
I recently bought a Pit Boss 5 from walmart. They have started the after Mid-summer markdowns on BBQ equipment. Watch brickseek and see of the prices have dropped near you. I got mine for $223, but some stores are dropping them to $199 (original either $446 or $396 depending on store).
I...
They are attached via machine screws into a rivet nut. I do not think a sheet metal screw would hold under the weight and motion of the door. Rivet nuts can be had on Amazon, but if you don't have a higher power rivet tool, they can be tough to install as they are thicker than normal rivets...
Great looking sticks Richie!!!
I need to run a batch in my PB5, but I'm glad to see it works well. You know we are onto something when even Rick (NEPAS) gets one!
