I tried it tonight, it worked at first very well but then it kind of fizzled out. I had a bag of hickory chunks and I chose about 5 small pieces that were in the bag, I didn't use any large chunks. The smell of the smoke definitely smelled like pure hickory, smelled great actually! It had the...
yea I think I'm gonna try it out, just wanted to find out of anyone else had tried it, I don't see why it wouldn't work but I don't want to cause things to warp and void any warranty. It's in direct contact with flame as it is so I can't imagine the smoldering wood is going to be any hotter.
Ah yea that makes sense. I wasn't sure about calling, I notice in one of there videos they seemed to dis rec tec a little bit lol talking about how they couldn't find and pretty ladies to lay on there grill haha.
What about at smoking temps? I get plenty of smoke, but light smoke flavor and with the case of pellets don't ask me why but I don't think it's more smoke = more flavor. It's almost like the smoke acts differently if that's even possible haha. On a weber smokey mountain you could get TO MUCH if...
I understand that, but did it provide any noticeable difference to the smoke taste of the food, which alot of people find lacking on pellet grills. I'll probably try it my self, just curious what you noticed
Yea I read about the system and watched the video on there site. I saw that it's thicker and he said it won't warp....which seemed odd cause in the video they removed there own deflector and it was warped. I am not sure what guage mine is already but I know it's pretty heavy duty, I might try a...
Hey everyone, I am sure some of you have already seen the Stick burning system sold at smoke daddy for the pellet pro grills. I am curious why this wouldn't work on my Rec Tec with its existing heat deflector?
In case you have no idea what I am talking about, you can find more information...
I think I decided what I'm going with, a local guy sells lumberjack pellets for 20$ per 40lbs!! 50 cents a lb, I will take it! He currently has 100% hickory, pecan, cherry and an MHC blend also, which he apparently created for them and he said is his favorite. Thanks everyone, with BBQr delight...
Just to be clear, it's the BBQ delight pellets I can get local for 15$ for 20lb not lumberjack pellets. There is a competition team listed for lunberjack but I haven't called them yet to find prices or if they even sell them.
Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but I got my Rec Tec last fall and the time has come to load up on pellets! I have been reading about the choices and it sounds like it comes down to 3 main choices, lumber jack pellets, cookinpellets and BBQr's Delight pellets. I have found that I can get...
Well, I use the garage for my motorcycle lawn mowers etc but I don't park the car in it unless a severe thunderstorm or something us coming through. In the past I've used the smoker just inside the door and it gets pretty smokey even with box fans. I don't mind the smell but if I want to hang...
I haven't actually had much trouble keeping temps. mainly its for my own comfort haha. getting coals going and everything set up is no fun when its 0 degrees out side. and I was thinking if I could vent the garage and have a small heater in there to even bring it up to 50-60 it would make things...
Hey everyone, I have been thinking about doing this for a few years and I am planning on trying to do it in the next month or so. I want to be able to use my WSM out of the elements. Ideally I would like to use some type of ducting and a chimeny but with the WSM I dont think that will work very...
The lowes in west des moines, ia sells them. out by jordan creek mall. Thats were I got mine this spring. also, Hawgeyes BBQ in ankeny, IA sells them and is the online source for blues hog bbq sauce among other tasty rubs and sauces!
Lowes should be able to ship it to your store and pickup...
youll love it, although id say if you dont need the 22" WSM then dont buy it. get the smaller one. for me and my wife the 18.5 is more then enough cooking space and usually have space not used. I saw the big one and knew id be wasting charcoal and space getting it.
Me and my wife made this today for lunch, we used a Ninja food processor to make the marinade so it was thinner then the OP how ever it tasted amazing and still worked great for this recipe. I had never had flank steak before so I didnt know what to expect but it is a delicious cut, it was so...
I see. I had an mes for a week and the electronics died so it went back to lowes. But that makes since the little turn and rotate chip tube didnt last very long.
