Well I've been wanting to try a brisket so I figured I'd jump in with both feet and do 2 . Using a modified Jeffs rub on one and a comercial rub I had laying around on the other. Also using mesquite for the first time. Here are a few pics to start off with.

Glad things are turning around for you. I foiled at 170, trying to get a little more bark on it. I pulled it off the smoker at 200 and it turned out great. Make sure you let it rest for awhile before pulling.

I think you'll be fine. Mine came up faster than I anticipated last weekend. Then it stalled at 160 for 3 hours. It will slow down. Just keep with it and all will be well. 7lb butt took me 13.25hrs last Saturday. Good luck.
